Our legal system.... sucks.

So.... some guy on a plane can call a BABY a smurf and slap the child hard enough to cause a cut on his face.... and gets charged with simple assault.

Yet some lady at a school gets on stage and takes her top off at an assembly and gets charged with 7 different things, including endangering the welfare of a child...

Where is the fairness in this??? Why can two people also do the same crime, but be charged with different things in different places? Just seems so.... flawed.

Yeah. The smurf is smurfed. Just like everything else in our government.

I think most of the unfairness in the two cases you mentioned stems from our country's hang ups over sexuality.

I agree. Our country is a lot more lax than others in our views on sex and sexuality, but I'd rather my kid see a pair of boobs than be slapped by a stranger and called a horrible name. jesus.

It's a very flawed system. I know woman who ran over her god daughter, killed the girl and is only serving two years and has been eligible for smurfing shock probation for 3 months (she's been incarcerated for only 6.) Back home in Florida she'd be serving 5-10 at least. It never ceases to amaze me how much a sentence can vary from state tp state for the exact same offense.

Exactly. Taking the life of a person will give 2 years somewhere... where a robbery in other places may get someone 5 years. We need something streamlined and general across all states.

just like molesters and whatnot can get out of jail early due to good behavior which makes absolutly no sense

I dont know which is more damaging honestly. IMO, having a child slapped on a plane and called a horrible name would stick with me a lot longer than knowing my child saw boobs, which can be pretty much anywhere. TV, public, etc.

You're right about the news though. They do have passengers backing up the story, but the news always has a way of twisting things or leaving out important details.

If a man had flashed his penis on stage, everyone would be up in arms though. Boobs shouldn't be treated differently.

That's where the whole breastfeeding thing comes into play though. I think they SHOULD be treated differently. But that's just my opinion. But you're right.... as it stands, it would be a double standard.

Although.... this is just one comparison, and evidently a bad one. I should have included another story similar to the airplane one. I just couldnt believe that slapping a child "wouldn't" be endangering the welfare of a child, ya know?

She didn't show her boobs to breast feed. So breast feeding shouldn't have anything to do with it.
