water breaking and temp question

posted 17th Feb
We thought my water broke last night.... lady swears it's not my water.... she sent me home, and now today I have what appears to be a temp.... but no other issues.... what should I do? I been in there a lot the last few days due to my doctor making me go in... several times... and then the L&D nurse had us come in due to what we thought was my water.... but tonight I have a temp.... i'm worried their test was wrong? Can it be wrong?! I have no reason to have a temp. So i'm not sure if I should be concerned, I see my doctor tomorrow....

If you think you're water broke and you have a temp, don't wait. Go to L&D tonight.

Is water still coming out?
Sometimes the strips they use don't get enough, but otherwise they are usually pretty accurate. But if you are still leaking, go back in again.

How high is your temp? I'd go back to the hospital, if I were you. If your water did break, infection risk goes up after 24 hours. Better safe than sorry.

If you think you are leaking and they say you are not tell them you want an ultrasound to confirm that.

Are you still leaking? What is your temperature?

I would be concerned too, especially if you are GBS+ like I was. I remember a fever in the mother could be a warning sign that the baby could be at increased risk of getting sick. I really am not trying to scare you, just saying why I would have been concerned if I were in your position (and I would be going back to the hospital).

Best of luck!

It's been 24 hours since that gush... my panty liner is wet...with a clear liquid but they did the swab test (the 1 minute in) and it said neg... but three women went in with the same issues and we all got sent home... we all had a gushes and I had several gushes... so i'm not sure... how three women could come in with the same issue... and all be sent home... but then again I had signs of pre-e and the doctor sent me home.

women come in daily saying their water broke. so.. very likely

I have fluid, but I always have a leaks, it's clear... I haven't had a gush like last night. I had several gushes last night and was told to come in, I went in they did the swab but she said it's neg.... my temp is over 100.

How do they typically test for amniotic fluid? pH strip? What about a fern test? Which is more commonly done?

I have protein in my urine, it's like the onset of pre-e.from what I understand.. blurred vision, headache that won't go away... and dizziness, and on and off again nausea .. I been like this for a week, and can't drive due to the blurred vision and dizziness,

Fern test is what they used to do... and the PH strip our hospital stopped using... now they do this swab that stays in for a minute... and then they do some other dipping for a minute and send it off.

sounds like they did an Amnisure. its a test where they insert a qtip in the vagina for a minute, then swirl it in solution and send it to lab. Pretty accurate.
