Smooth Brain Syndrome

ok....so, i made a profile on care.com, and responded to an "ad" for a mother seeking a full time nanny for her one year old daughter with special needs. long story short, she wanted me to call her today, and i did, and everything sounds awesome. its a monday-friday, 9-5...and accompanying them on their vacations to nanny. Anyway, i explained to her that i have a special needs son (autism) and asked her what her daughters diagnosis was.. she said it was a really long word but it means smooth brain syndrome. after googling it, it says most children will die before the age of ten and are usually very, very delayed. i was wondering if anyone has known someone with this syndrome, any advice or tips for me? she said her daughter is not walking and still takes a bottle, and is in therapies.

I knew a girl I went to school with and they said her son wouldn't survive even the first yr. I'm not sure what ever ended up happening. But when they were going to my moms church he was basically like a NB. Just floppy and layed there. Basically vegetative. Bit idk if there's varying degrees of severity. Congrats on the job

I always get jobs through there so it's not that dumb.

Not that it has anytjing to do with the op but I've gotten a ton of great, really good paying jobs on that site. Are you certified in anything or have any kind of higher education? Did you provide a background check?

Op, like the other poster said, the only child I knew with it was basically in a vegetative state until he deteriorated and passed away around age three. It's pretty heart breaking actually.

I hope it works out! The people around here are insane, they'll call for an interview and never get back to you. Tell you that you are hired and just waiting for the background check that apparently never comes back.

Well, we set a date, she gave me her address and a time to come over , i also have her number so...i hope it works out

It's the people in my town. It's every job site and in person.
