School and baby...

posted 17th Feb
So I have a seven month old and am currently going to college (something I WAS very proud of) except I failed my first entire semester and this semester I was doing much better at managing my baby and school. However I missed my exam in ONE class and the teacher dropped me. In order to recieve my financial aid I have to have a total of 12 credits. So now because of that one class I just lost my financial aid and will have to depend on loans and whatever I can get my hands on. I'm so dang depressed its pathetic. I don't even want to do this college crap anymore because I'm so fed up with trying to do college on top of taking care of my baby, its just not working out as well as I thought I guess. I feel like a complete failure and I don't know what to do about myself.

You can talk to financial aid. They will put you on probation but you will still get funding.

May I ask whats so hard about it?

I go to school full time and have my daughter. I do pretty well, I procrastinate a lot but I've been doing okay!

ETA: I also am adding full time work onto all top it   I start Tuesday. I'm looking forward to it, but extremely stressed!

I'm going to school and DD is 4... I honestly think it would have been easier to do when she was a baby. I found the hardest part of starting college was time management and finding a happy medium between school, family, and myself. My college offers programs that help with that, you should check out the resources available to you.

I have a 4 year old and a 5 month old and am in school full time still and doing fine. It's very possible don't give up! Do you have a SO that can help watch your child so you can study and do homework? Also talk to financial aid they may be able to work something out with you.

I'm graduating in May with my bachelors. I had my son during my junior year (he's two now). My husband is a teacher and when he gets home from work, I would go to Starbucks and do my homework. I'm doing my internship now, which is working 40 hours a week without getting paid!

I did 4 degrees while working full time and raising my daughter....it's hard but completely possible.

Why would you miss an exam?

I didn't miss the exam on purpose obviously, she put it in the syllabus instead of the online calendar that all my classes are posted. So I didn't mark it down. During the first semester I had really bad postpartum depression on top of not managing my time well. This semester I've been getting ready for my wedding on top of taking care of my child who never takes naps and wants to always be entertained. I guess I'm just not good at multitasking

My school offers a time management course that many of my friends have taken, and they say it has helped them a lot. Check if your own school offers one?

I have two kids, 5 & 3, and go to school full time, this is my second year. And my best friend was going ft with a 5 year old and a newborn. It can be done, you just have to learn how to manage your time & not take on too many courses at once. I started with one class and then added them on as I got used to it. I'm up to 13 units now, and was at 15 last semester. You can do it, don't give up.
