low weight

Soooo, im currently 35 weeks. At my last appointment my doctor told me that my daughter is measuring at a low weight... its really making me nervous... she is typically supposed to be about 5.5 lbs right now and is only at about 3 lbs.. has anyone gone through this? How did ur little one turn out? Plz and thank you

Ultrasound weight can be off by 2 lbs and sometimes more. Day before I had DS he measured at 7lbs 3oz. He was born at 9lbs 15oz.
If your doctor isn't concerned then I wouldn't be either.

I went through the exact same thing. My whole pregnancy, baby measured fine. Until I was 30 weeks. At 30 weeks, he was measuring 28. At 33, he was measuring 30, and at 36, he was measuring 33. I had to go for extra ultrasounds. They told me he was healthy, just small. My doctor was going to get me to 38 weeks and then do a c-section, since he was breech. At my 35 week ultrasound, he measured 4 lbs 2 oz.

At 36 weeks and 5 days, I went in to L&D because I hadn't felt him move. They monitored me and he was fine, but did an ultrasound and found there was low fluid in the placenta. An hour later, I was rushed back for en emergency c-section. They had diagnosed him with IUGR because he was so small. I gave birth to a HEALTHY 4 pound 15 ounce baby, who is now almost 10 weeks and he's over 9 pounds!

He stayed the first night in NICU for observation, but he and I were released a day earlier. He was a little jaundiced, but other than that.......Completely healthy.

I ate like I was eating for 5 and gained weight....and my baby was still small. There isn't much you can do.

Also, the NICU isn't a huge or scary deal. All small babies go there, at least for a night. They have to have levels and all of that checked, multiple times. I was actually relieved he was there. I was exhausted from the c-section, I couldn't move my legs, and I needed to rest. I knew he was taken care of in the NICU.

The NICU is a scary place   I had a 33 weeker spend 2 weeks in there. But luckily IUGR usually just ends in an earlier due date. My nephew was measuring REALLY small when he was in utero. He was born at 38 weeks weighing 5lbs 14oz. And completely healthy.
