Question about breast feeding...
posted 17th Feb
So I had my first son on January 15,2013.. So almost 5 weeks ago, (crazy how fast time goes) but he's been on formula & last night I was thinking that I really want to try to breast feed. Would that still be possible after 5 weeks?? 5 days after I had him my boobs got hard as rocks & I think that my milk may have dried up... But i heard there is a pill that can help? Anyway, please let me know your opinions... I really need wanna do this!

You should try it. I never breastfed, my daughter is 3 and I still have breast milk. I can fill a bottle up if I wanted to which is weird because when I wanted to breastfeed, I had no milk.

Well originally I had planned on doing so but at the hospital I got so stressed out & everyone told me I had to be on some strict diet so I decided not to... Very silly of me but its worth a try.. (:

No, sorry. I didn't even know there was a pill. You should call your doctor, or you baby's doctor/nurse and ask.

Just let your LO nurse a lot, and that will stimulate your production. Good luck! Also, google "re lactation"

If letting lo nurse doesnt stimulate your milk, which being early it probably will I havent bf'd in 10 months and I still get some every now and then, talk to your dr. I dont know the name of the pill but my dr gave it to me when I wasnt producing enough. It helped me. Good Luck.

Your first step is getting baby to latch. I would also invest in a Supplemental Nursing System so that baby will get milk(formula) while also stimulating your body to make milk. You could also drink mother's milk tea(available at wal mart). Drink lots of water too. We also have a breastfeeding support thread that has lots of great info. And you can order a SNS on amazon.

WHAT?!?! Why would they say that? I'm so sorry. This actually makes me very sad for you. alway ask BG all your bfing questions from now on haha!!!
For your question, yes you can relactate. I will link you to a woman's story in a min and see how it's done.
You can start off by pumping often and attempting to get him to latch BEFORE every feeding. Even if he doesn't latch it will stimulate milk production for him to nuzzle around and cry and stuff. You may need to use a nipple shield because it's closer to a bottle and he may take to that more.
U can take fenugreek and drink mothers milk tea. Eat lots of oatmeal as well. I agree with what someone else said about the SNS. We couldn't get dd to use it but some people have better luck.
Look into your Insurance company. they may cover a pump.
The pill from the dr is typically reglan. But it can cause ppd so that should be a last resort if the other stuff fails.
