parenting LOs differently

posted 17th Feb
If you have more than one child, what are some things you do/did differently between 1st and 2nd, 2nd and 3rd? i don't mean do to personality, just parenting. e.g. BF vs FF, CD vs disposable, CIO vs NON-CIO, and even circ'ing vs non circ'ing. why did you do it differntly? became more educated, change of heart etc?

With our first I only breastfeed for a few weeks. I also used disposables. With our second I'm EBF and we are cloth diapering. No reason other then its saving us money. DS is only 5 weeks so that's the only difference so far. I just wing it so I don't know what else I will do differently.

With my first I only Bf for a couple months it was hard and didn't have a lot of support so I just stopped. With my Second i got more educated and found BG and BF for almost 9 months!  Also I was very young when I had my first just a couple months short of my 19th birthday so I pretty much just did whatever my mom told me. The second time around I realize how just dead wrong she was about a lot of stuff. I started baby wearing and held my baby constantly despite the fact that my mom told me every second of every day I was spoiling him. Pretty much practiced attached parenting in every regard. He is far more independent that my oldest now. Also my second was my first boy and I circed him. Everyone had me convinced it was the right thing to do and I didn't want to chance him having to get it done later because half my damn family are nurses and told me freaking horror stories. Well the doctor blotched it and he went through hell and eventually had to have it redone at a year. So when baby number 3 ended up being a boy I refused to circ him. DH still wants it done but I told him I am not putting another one of my kids through that hell again for no reason.

With our first, I formula fed, let her cio, and co-slept.

With our second, I was so set on NOT breast feeding, but as soon as I got my first cuddle, I put her to the breast, I mix fed for 4 weeks (I'm proud to say that lol, seeing as I wasn't even going to try) I will NOT let her cio (more educated about it) and we do not co-sleep.

seeing you post on the other forum about BF for that teen made me think of this forum. i had planned to BF till AT LEAST 6 months, with the idea that if i could make it to that goal, i'd EBF till a yr. it was stressful and i gave up too soon. i see how DD is at 8 months old and think as she got older, she wouldn't have gotten easier to BF. with the next baby i'm gonna try harder on that and ask for more help if i need it.
