Fever....

My 4 yr old son started throwing up yesterday, but didnt have a fever. earlier today his face looked flushed so I took his temp and it was 101, so I gave him tylenol and keeping him hydrated with water and mio w/ electrolytes (its kinda like powerade) and feeding him crushed ice. He refuses to eat due to his stomach hurting so I'm not forcing him he ate a lil bit here and there though. He has slept most of the day and when he fell asleep a lil bit ago, his breathing was erratic and his heart was pounding so I took his temp again and it was 102. Should I take him to the ER or wait it out til tomorrow? And are these breathing patterns and rapid heart beat with a fever normal? (fevers scare me, since I was hospitalized as a child for a high fever.)

Yeah, the rapid heart rate is normal with a fever. If he's been throwing up, he may be a little dehydrated, which also causes the heart to beat faster. Do whatever puts your mind at ease. If you'd feel better taking him in, then so be it. I'd probably just keep an eye on him, though.

Sounds like how my son was last weekend (but he didn't have fever, we just took him to the ER bc he was throwing up so hard he couldn't breathe...) how is he feeling this morning?

His fever is gone thank God, but he is still feeling run down and weak. He is groggy and laying around but still not eating much. how long did your lil one have it?

He complained with just his tummy hurting for about 5 days after. Has he had any diarrhea? And as long as he stays hydrated he shouls be fine. (I know you won't, but don't try to make him eat.) Only way we could get Daniel to eat was give him popscicles. That was all he could keep down when we took him to the er, even sprite made him throw up more. Hope he feels better soon! Glad fever went down.

yea he has diarrhea too, and he asked for food today and ate it so he is getting a lil better but now my 2 yr old daughter has it

That's good that he is asking for food. And aww. I hope they both feel better. :-( seems everyone's babies are getting sick. No fun!!

Yeah, its going around like crazy. They are better today, but my son has conjunctivitis now, so we got him some medicated eye drops from the doc today.

ikr, now I have the throwing up, started last night but the stomach cramps started 2 days ago.
