Do you plan on doing all your labouring in the tub? If not, birthing balls are AWESOME. I used mine like crazy and had my water break all over it, haha. Rocking chairs are also good, but obviously a more expensive purchase if you don't already have one so it's not a huge deal.

Do you mean things to help progress the labour or just setting the mood/atmosphere stuff?

I don't know if I'd have liked any strong scent while in labour. My senses were all over the place and super heightened, so it might be a little overwhelming. It wouldn't hurt to have one there to try out, but I wouldn't depend on it in case it's too much, y'know? I don't know what you were thinking music-wise, but I had literally the best CD imaginable for labour/birth/afterward and have listened to it every night since DS was born. I know the name of it but I don't know who released it or anything, I'll try searching for it and get back to you.

Candles, not for the scent but for the light, are awesome for setting a relaxing mood. Especially if you're gonna be in the tub a lot (which is such a good place to labour!)

I'm also having a home water birth and my Midwife said a good bathrobe or extra big towels, depends garments works better than pads, bendy straws, lots of water bottles and so many recommended muffins lol

I've been asking around and these are the best ones I've gotten. Best wishes!
