Feeling alot of preassure.

posted 16th Feb
I'm 24 wks and I haven't gained much wheight. All of the weight I have gained is all in my stomach. And for the last 3-4 weeks I've been walking around with preassure in my lower abdomen. (Right under my tummy). It's unconfortable but not unbearable. I can still walk but I feel preassure. But today it's been extremely painful. I woke up and I could hardly stand to make breakfast. I mentioned it to my OB on my last visit (last week) and he said it was normal. I highly doubt this much preassure is normal. I know I shouldn't compare this pregnancy to my last but it's not making sence how much pain I'm in. Has anyone else had this much preassure this early in their pregnancy? I'm in bed, and don't think I can get up w/o it hurting.

Are you talking about round ligament pains or like pressure on your cervix? I know with my second I felt like my belly was going to rip open the farther along I got. It was just round ligament pains. Never got it with my first, my second pregnancy was a different story though.

I would be seen and checked. Pressure and pain in the lower abdomen can be a symptom of preterm labor. If I hadn't gotten checked when I felt that then my Drs wouldnt have known I was dilating and effacing at 23 weeks.

Preassure on my cervix. It hurts like it did when I was in labor so I'm freaking out.

Definitely go get checked to make sure you aren't dilating and in preterm labor.

Not to scare you OP but I wish someone had told me the same. You need to have an ultrasound to check your cervical length.

In the meantime, while you're waiting to talk to a dr, you can put a pillow under your rear and lay down for a bit. That will help to shift the baby's weight off of your cervix. I'd also drink a bunch of water.

So the on call dr called me and he said he's not worried bout it. He said at 24 weeks pre term labor is rare. And that all it is is RLP'S. ummm I know what RLP'S feel like. He said well If you're that worried about it and it hurts that bad then just got to the ER.

If it was me, I would go just for peace of mind. If it's nothing, then you know it's nothing. If it's something, you probably caught it early and it will be easier to manage than waiting until you're in full blown labor.

You could have an incompetent cervix and you know how that is diagnosed the majority of the time? By losing babies in the second trimester because the cervix just opens up with and without contractions. ... Drs shrug off concerns like these and that's why we have the problem with prematurity in the world today.

I'm a huge advocate of the rule "if you don't feel right and that something is wrong, go in and DEMAND to be evaluated and seen and get answers".

Not trying to scare you. .. just giving you the facts.

This makes me soooo mad. Even my MFM was this way and even when I asked for cervical length checks he said there was no need to do them so early. I now know I was dilating then and my water broke at 15 weeks.

It makes me sad and mad too. It is sad women have to lose babies before anything is done. I was lucky my Drsistened to me and checked me with my second pregnancy. I now will always be labled high risk. I feel that cervical length checks should be mandatory via ultrasound. every two weeks or so from 14-24 weeks to catch it for everyone right away. Save families the heart ache of loss.

I agree. I'll be getting TACd in April though so hopefully IC will no longer be even a concern for me.
