worried about blood pressure

posted 16th Feb
So i am now 33 weeks and since 26 weeks I have been having problems with my blood pressure. I had pre e with my 1st so they are watching me very closely. Well for some reason some days my pressure will be fine and some it will be sky high, I have no idea why and neither do the doctors. I am not stressed or anything, most times I dont eat any thing before I go so its not my salt intake and i get plently of rest. Well thursday my pressure was so high they decided to keep me and thought they would have to induce me because my pressures were severe. I was only 32 weeks and 5 days. I wsa seriously scared to death. they gave me steroid shots (which hurt like hell) and kept monitoring me. well all day thursday my pressure was high, but friday they came all the way down to 123/82.

My question is, is there anything i can do to keep my pressures down? I really dont want to have this baby any earlier than i need to. I dont think the doctors want to give me meds because it is so unpredictable. The original plan was to induce me at 37 weeks but now because of my pressure being so high they want to do it as early as 34. Does any body have any advice for me? any and all will be greatly appreciated!

If you don't want to be induced you can refuse.

My last pregnancy the same thing happened to me. They didn't do anything to try to help me other than saying "bedrest" which I did and I had a placental abruption at 33 weeks that nearly killed me and my baby. With this baby they are watching me very closely because my BP has started to be high. They told me to take a baby asprin or a low dose adult asprin everyday to control it and it has worked like a charm. How high did your BP get? Mine was 230/119 with my last baby. :/

Do you have protein in your urine or other signs of pre-e?

There is not a whole lot you can do. Bp meds could bring it down but it won't take away the risk of seizure or stroke or the risk to baby. It's a band aid fix. The only thing that may help lower all risks slightly is something I read in a study done a few years ago. Submerge to the neck in warm water for 20 min 2-3 times a week (like swimming bathtub doesn't work) I did this before delivery and avoided issues until 3 weeks pp when I had seizures and a stroke. Pre-e is nothing to smurf with. I'm lucky I got out alive.

there are quite a few things to keep your bp down but not the actual problem that often comes with it and makes hypertension pre e which is the protien in your body that is still technically a big theory no one knows how or why it comes or really what to do but taking it easy and eating healthy can never do harm....I come from a reservation where mineral salts were incouraged alot for things like this you ingest a teaspoon with each bottle of water basically and for me it has helped me make it this far with stopping the bp problems like your having and lowering my protien numbers its not a cure and its homeopathic so of course discuss it with your dr. and do research

Thanks everybody! i guesss im really worried about it because it hit me all of a sudden with my 1st and both our lives were in danger. With this one its just sort of creeping up and im afraid it may behiding and will hit me out of nowhere. My doctors do have me on moderated bed rest, i get weekly 24 hr urines done, weekly dr visits, 2x weekly nst and monthly ultrasoumds. im just not sure what else I can do to help keep it down. i also have a bp cuff at home to check myself. so far the plan is to induce at 37 weeks, which I have no objections to because i would much rather be safe then sorry. Thanks again for all of the suggestions! ill be looking in to all of them over the weekend

Seeing as she has medical issues... I don't think i'd refuse if I was her... high blood pressure is not good...for mother or baby.
