Stalking your ex...

posted 16th Feb
For those of you who went through a rough break up, did you ever stalk your ex? If so, did you find ways to rationalize your stalking? Did you ever see an issue with the stalking at the time or did you think it was normal?

I have this friend who can't get over her break ups. She was with her fiance for 10 years, jumped into another relationship right away and is now split up with the new dude. She sent me a text today saying that she drove past one of the guys houses, but not the others. For the other guy she said she avoided driving to his house because she knew it would kill her to see another car parked in the driveway of her home, so instead she stopped by a BBQ place he goes to every day in hopes of running into him.

She does this often and I always find myself at a loss for words because I think it's stupid and crazy. When I've voiced my opinion, that she needs to stop and worry about herself, she tells me that I've never been through a rough break up so I wouldn't understand. Well, that may be true, but I still think she's bat smurf. I'm wondering how common this is...lol

Whoa.
I do the opposite, ha.
When i left my daughter's dad, he lived a couple blocks away from us, and i'd literally drive a longer way home NOT to pass his place.

I never dated the guy, but i did what your friend, did. But not to thast extent. I'd drive by his house, and have thought about going to his work so i could see him. He makes me a little crazy ..

No but I have BEEN stalked. It's smurfing nerve wrecking knowing someone is watching you and has connections you can't imagine. She needs to get that under control. It's not ok.

my best friend has just started therapy because he has been stalking his ex. Leaving roses on his car windows, sending flowers to his work, following him around the city, watching him leave work etc etc. Unfortunately for him his ex is a criminal justice lawyer, and gave him the ultimatum 'either you get counselling or I'm going to take legal action'.

See, I feel like this is normal lol.

Whenever I'd go through a break up I would avoid the places that they frequented. I'd even avoid a party if I knew they'd be there because I never wanted to be the person to start drama at someone else's home.

Although I've never had a rough break up on my end because I was always the one breaking up with the dude.

Nope but I have been stalked by my husbands ex. The bitch is crazy and I pray to god she doesn't find out that we are back in california. If she does I seriously fear for my safety and will for sure sleep with my gun. She made my life hell the whole time my husband was deployed and even tried telling him I was lying. He found out she was really crazy when she showed up at my grandmas while we were on vacation. I think your friend needs some help.

I guess that could make a difference, haha cos like you, i've done the breaking up- though with this dude it was still difficult- even though i did the leaving- and i had no urge to stalk. hm.. i don't think stalking for any reason is normal haha

Whoa that's cray cray. I actually thought you meant like FB stalking lol. Stalking, like physically driving around and seeing what they're doing, is pretty obsessive.

Good for her! And him as well.

My friend is kind of doing the same. She showed up at her ex fiance's, out of the blue, to give him a key chain. He told her that he didn't want it so she threw it at him and ran away.

Today's convo started with "Do you think ___ and ___ stalk me like I stalk them? Like make up fake facebook profiles to look at my stuff and drive past my house?"

Both of her exes blocked her on FB, btw. lol

Both my ex and dh's ex teamed up and stalked us together when Dh and I moved in with each other. Somehow they found out the name of the apartments we were staying at and they literally drove the parking lot in search of our cars. His ex needed a signature for something and he told he'd he was out of town, she text him "why is your car at your apartment then?" He was like "melinda has is, damn!" Which scared the smurf out of me because im alone and this bitch is watching my apartment which i don't even have blinds up in yet cos we just moved there. Then another time my ex text me asking what I was doing at Walmart. I was like "im not at Walmart, but why do I need to tell you?" He was like "oh, we thought we saw your car." That was "we" as in dh's ex and mine lol. They even threw a party to bash us. It was called "tue beginning of a New era/singles party." The only thing I've ever done is peeled at an ex's facebook, but just out of curiosity.

Haha! Well, she does both. She actually broke up with both of them, but still stalks. I don't get it, I just can't wrap my head around it. I've told her that I truly feel like she should seek counseling, but I don't think she ever will.

Whoah! That's seriously creepy. I have creeped on some of my exes FBs, but I didn't go searching for them. Majority of my exes and I have mutual friends so if they've popped up I've looked. Not like in a "WTF, WHO IS HE WITH?" kind of way, mainly just to see pictures if they changed since the last time that I saw them.
