Throwing up, lost weight, bad for baby?

posted 15th Feb
**This post is for my friend Kat and NOT for me**

"This is the 6th time I have thrown up today. Wtf. And I lost another 8 lbs. This is not okay. Calling my Dr ASAP on Monday. I'm not keeping any food down and I'm worried that the baby might not be getting its nutrients. I am in the 2nd trimester and I am 14 weeks along."

She posted this on facebook and I'm really worried about her so I'm posting on here for her. Has this happened to any mommas? Any advice until she can see the doctor? TIA

I had the same issue... although never 8 times in 1 day.. but I was sick everyday until well into my 3rd trimester and I only started gaining in my 3rd trimester... but all I can recommend is eating like you have the stomach flu (dry toast, chicken broth (chicken noodle soup once you can keep broth down), saltine crackers, etc) and drinking water (SLOWLY) at least you end up retaining SOMETHING that way

That happened to me when I Was 6 weeks because of food poisoning, except it was 100 times worse than that. I lost 6lbs in 3 hours, and couldn't keep anything down for 3 days. As soon as I drank even water boom! came right back out. My doctor said there wasn't anything I could do except wait until it was all out of my system. Your friend should definitely let her doctor know especially if it's for an unknown reason.

she definitely needs to see her dr. They can give her some nausea meds until she stops throwing up. I dont think its a big emergency or anything but it needs taken care of for sure.

I lost 15lbs during the first 4 months of my first pregnancy(and I was only 130 to begin with). I couldn't keep Anything down, I was afraid I was going to miscarry but morning sickness subsided in months 4 and 5.

Baby takes what it needs from her, so baby isn't going to suffer, she is.

During my pregnancy with my daughter, I was crazy sick from week 9 to week 16, and in that time span I lost 35 pounds..! I was overweight to begin with, but as someone else said, the baby got nutrients from my body anyway. It still would be a good idea to go to the doc and try Zofran or something though- it's really hard on your body to be that sick for any length of time.

I lost 10lbs this pregnancy during my first few months. I didn't start gaining wait til I was at 24weeks. dehydration is the big part here. I used to freeze different flavors of ice and let them slowly melt in my mouth. The baby is going to take what it needs from her, weither she eats or doesn't get to eat. I was so worried for awhile that my baby girl wasn't growing, but when i had my 20week ultrasound it showed she was growing just fine. now at 34weeks she is even measuring ahead. take it easy and try to at least do the fluid.

Quoting S & S (+1 angel):" **This post is for my friend Kat and NOT for me** "This is the 6th time I have thrown up today. Wtf. ... [snip!] ... worried about her so I'm posting on here for her. Has this happened to any mommas? Any advice until she can see the doctor? TIA"

I'm almost 25 weeks and I have lost 38 pounds. I have Hyperemesis Gravidarum and I have to go to the ER every two days to get fluids through an IV. My Dr. told me that baby is getting every nutrient he needs to be healthy, just I'm suffereing. I throw up when I wake up, throughout the whole day, before I go to bed, and I wake up throughout the night. Some days I can't even keep fluids down. I really hope it gets better for her so she's not miserable! GL!

Im 8 weeks pregnant and have already lost 20lbs. Some days I get dangerously dehydrated and cannot keep anything down and then I have a break and wonder if something is wrong. I've waited 8 years for this baby. I lost the last one too so im constantly stressed. I have a supportive partner but feel so very alone. I have 3 illnesses too and not veing able to take the meds I was on is hard.

Hope people can give me a bit of advice/support too id greatly appreciate it.

Take care all xxx
