I have been with my SO for nearly 6 years. No marriage and don't plan on doing it anytime soon. I've never been told that. on here or IRL.

I don't know what to say to you? I've never said that.. and I never said anyone should have an expensive wedding. All I said was there's no rush to get married so why would anyone not wait until they could have the wedding they wanted?

I don't just mean financially, there's a lot of things that can go into the wedding you want. IE: The weather, your family being available, you not being pregnant, losing weight. It's not just about money.

And... what do you want me to say to the fact that crazy people have said crazy smurf to you? Uh... welcome to BG?

my dream wedding wold be to just go and buy a marriage certificate. I'm not one of these girls that sat around making a scrapbook of wedding dresses and flower arrangements. I don't want a first waltz or my dad to walk me down the aisle. I hate all of it and to ME its a waste of time and money.

maybe a courthouse wedding IS someones dream wedding.. what is wrong with that? i sure didnt want another wedding. just me my SO, our baby and my parents. was perfect FOR US

and to that "living in sin" comment, sin is in the eye of the beholder. believe me living happily *in sin* for a lifetime is better than being trapped in an abusive marriage for 50 years simply becaue Divorce is a sin. i think God or whatever you want to call it would prefer you to be in a healthy relationship regardless of your maritial status.

i commend anyone who "lives in sin" long enough to knowif that is a stable enough relationship to actually get legally married (like my husband and i did) bc the first time around we got married then lived together, you know did it the "right way" and BOTH ended up in abusive marriages! if someone never wants to legally married, more power to them, marriage is a feeling not a peice of paper and a cerremony

I know. My response was regarding the "if you don't care enough to get married in a church you don't care about your relationship" thing.

I said an outdoor or venue wedding would be just as meaningful, meaning a wedding done by a JOP.

I'm laaaate to this party. But DH and I were planning and putting deposits down. It got so stressful trying to plan it in another state where his family was at, that we just said smurf it. His best friend got ordained and married us. We had 4 witnesses, and got married without shoes, in the sand on a private beach in Laguna Beach, California (my favorite place in the world... I want my ashes scattered there after I die). We didnt tell anyone because we didnt want the drama or opinions. It was a super meaningful wedding and low key like us. Loved it, and it's something I'll cherish forever.
