spotting

I haven't had any cramps for a few weeks now, but when I did have cramps, I was spotting a little bit.
Today, I haven't had any cramps... none at all.. felt fine.. just had a headache...I went to the bathroom and I was spotting again. Is it normal to spot throughout your pregnancy or is it just in the start when the egg attaches?

I spotted dark brown at around 7 1/2 weeks (heavier at first) and off and on for the next two weeks. Went to the ER and discovered it was twins. Now I am almost 4 months and everything is strong and healthy. Both babies are great and already wiggle worms.
Spotting could be lots of things from leftover implantation, subchorionic hemorrhage, placenta issues, and even from sex because the cervix is so engorged that the slightest touch could make it bleed. And all those reasons above don't mean miscarriage. Lots of people have them and are fine. Some people spot their entire pregnancy.
I'd say if it isn't TONS of bright red blood with clots and extreme pain, try not to stress. And if you are worried you could always go to the ER like I did. They give you an ultrasound usually.
But definitely make a doctors appointment ASAP.
