No, I didn't feel like you were jumping at me at all. It's really hard to read tone online.

It reminds me of that article posted a while back where autism was linked to vaccines. People are *still* talking about that and it was proved to be not true. At this point, the article needs whole bunch more research done before we start talking about c-sections causing autism or formula causing autism.

IMO, this type of article does more harm than good unless there is some solid evidence that this can be linked.

I think there are several factors that contribute to autism..womb environment, birth, neonatal nutrition, environmental toxins ( life style ,/ overall diet) and yeah genetics play a huge factor. Some people just can't express all the toxins like others can. That's the theory that makes the most sense to me I guess

It doesn't say anything about c-sections causing autism. Again, all it says, is that they noticed c-section babies have a higher risk of being autistic, obese, and developing cancer, and they didn't know why. But now, they think it has something to do with the microbes found in the gut.

Pretty interesting...

It makes me wonder a bit about the gut microbes in autistic children who were unvaccinated/vaginal birth, and also how food would affect this, or medication.. I'm not really familiar with gut functions but, yeah, I think it's definitely worth more investigation.

Oh definitely! I think our food intake plays a huge part in most diseases.

I can't wait for the finger-pointing SuperMoms to get ahold of this. First I had an autistic child because I vaccinated, and now I have an autistic child because I didn't breastfeed.

I was just writing the longest post about this but i deleted it becase i worry too much about pissing people off but basically i think some babies just have autism there is nothing (that we KNOW of) that 'causes' it and its not preventable (yet) we can sit here and judge mums all we want but it wont do anyone any good.

Pretty much.

I didn't feel the article was judgmental or anything like that-but I definitely see it being used that way. Autism is still so misunderstood, and having a kid with autism already comes with so many challenges and weird looks from people and whatever else that the last thing I think anyone needs is to be told repeatedly "This is YOUR fault. Somehow. And we will find out how. We know it isn't from vaccines now, but WE WILL FIND OUT WHAT YOU DID WRONG." It's sort of...offensive isn't the word I'm looking for, but it's what comes to mind first.

I hear you, It makes me mad that so many people will read this article, form a judgement and then it will be ban C-Sections they cause Autism and we will have babies lost in labour. I know that may sound OTT but the figures for children suffering vaccinatable ( SP,nah its not even a word is it? ah well.) diseases is horrendus, al due to a few now mostly disproven 'studies'

It makes people feel more secure if they can pinpoint something that someone did wrong that caused an illness, disability, etc. It makes them feel like if they don't do that, then it won't happen to them. That's the best way I can explain it. My mom is in remission for breast cancer and I'll be damned if people weren't horribly rude, trying to tell her that she got cancer because of something she did... It had to have been something she ate, some pill she took, Smurf now people are even trying to say that mammograms CAUSE cancer.

The fact of the matter is that we don't know, and we probably will never know, EXACTLY what causes these things. They just happen. People get sick, people have sick kids, people have autistic kids, people have fat kids and diabetes. It happens and it's no one's "fault." And yes, it can happen to absolutely ANYONE. Even if you've never touched anything plastic, even if you eat all organic and no meat, even if you don't vaccinate, even if you breastfed your kids until they were ten. That's why we should all be extremely thankful for everything amazing in our lives at all times.

2 c-section babies without autism? Sweet baby jesus, thank you for proving that there is no risk of autism from a c-section.
