Overwhelmed; Needing a break.

posted 15th Feb
How do you deal with needing a break from your mommy work, when no one is around to give you a break?

I'm getting overwhelmed and I have no outlet. No one to take the kids, no where to go, nothing to do. I'm starting to get depressed.

Help?

Are your munchkins in school/daycare so you can work?

ETA: I ask because if they are maybe you could take a day off from work while the kids are in school/daycare and just relax for a few hours. Take some time for yourself. Even with a supportive helpful partner, being an adult gets overwhelming and exhausting sometimes, i would imagine trying to do it all without one would be pretty trying. Taking care of yourself will help you be a better mommy.

is the weather nice? Can you take your kids to the park, or for a walk? My DD is only 10 months old, so it's still not a whole lot. But if I start feeling stir crazy (because DH works 6 10-12hr days and I have no sitter either) I take DD out. Good luck, hope you feel better!

My oldest is in school, my youngest starts in September. And I go to school ( College) but I mean, that's not much of a break.

The weather is super smurffy here. It's like raining or sleeting maybe? And like 30. NY winters suck.

And I can try to go for a walk when my oldest goes back to school on Tuesday... But that's if it's not freezing outside.

Have you tried finding a mommy group in your area just to get out of the house and meet some other woman in your situation??

Nope. Since the divorce, I've pretty much isolated myself, which I know is stupid. But I was just to... upset to do anything.

I just ran out of those. Which I know is going to cause MAJOR problems for me.

I just hate feeling like this. I hate feeling hopeless. Ya know?

If I were you I would look into finding one, and I would also think about finding a part time job at least. I wouldn't want to be completely isolated and dependent on someone I'm not even with. Kwim? That would make me feel hopeless too.

I understand what you mean. I am a stay-at-home mom, I don't go to school or anything right now and I take care of a household of my SO's family amongst my DD. The only thing that really helps me is doing my hobbies. Which sometimes can get frustrating if my daughter isn't listening too well... But I like doing photography, going on walks, and taking DD to the park helps a lot too. Just anything to get out, really. I also have my best friend that I hang out with as much as possible.
