Rear facing coming to an end :(
posted 15th Feb
Liam had his 18 month check up today it went well..we found out that he is 27lbs and 36 in tall...sad day to know that by two he won't be able to rear facing. His a giant kid, the doctor said she hasn't seen a 18 month old this tall before. He asked how tall dad was I was like were both short haha..so who knows.
I'm just sad he won't be able to rear face much longer. 2 years is better then nothing. Also I say he will grow out of it soon cause at 15 months he was only 32 in talk so his shooting up in height 95 percentile.

Why are you sad he won't be rear facing?

Don't be too sad. My kids are always happier to be front facing. Can't wait to be able to turn the baby around so she can see everything.

most likely because extended rear facing is safer than forward facing

you do realise you can still rear face...

They make car seats that rear face up to like 45 inches. Why can't he rear race passed 2? My daughter just turned 2 and is still comfortably rear facing at 38 inches tall and 29lbs.

He may slow down. My daughter made it to 2 and a half before she hit the max on her seat. She's 3 and a half and about 44inches now, so she's slowed down a bit.
But 2 years is still pretty good

No he will continue to rear face till he hits the limits of 40in..and he may slow down.
I don't think it so much that his out growing it that makes me sad, its just another thing to say his growing up way to fast haha...
Yeah 2 years is the new recommended age for rear facing. So ill be happy if we make it that far. but he'll be harnessed till 65lbs so were good on that.

He's beautiful btw. Making it to two years is great!
We had to turn my son forward facing at like 16 months because he has a seizure disorder and in order for me to know if he's having an episode I need to be able to see his hands, feet, and abdomin clearly.

My oldest never got to RF past a year. And we were lucky to make it a year then. Car seats just weren't made then to RF a kid that size. He was over 30lbs and 30 inches at just a year. I remember him wearing 4t at a year, size 8 shoes. Oh my....
Thankfully my 2nd husband, his kids are shorties and smaller, they get to stay RF longer.

Well they had them, but a convertible car seat in 2006/2007 was going to cost you 200dollars minimum. We had to pay like 250 for our son's and he ended up needing to forward face at 16 months anyway.
Luckily he was able to forward face in it until he was 5 1/2 and my daughter got a year RFing in that career before it expired so it wasn't a complete waste of money.

depending on the seat you have, all that matters is that there is 1+ inches of hard shell above his head!
ETA: not his over all height

Haha that's why idk how to buy cloth diapers cuz my kid is huge lol. Liam wears a 7 in shoes. 2t in pants and shirts.
Yeah I figured he wouldn't make it past 2 but I was hoping.
