Your baby's wardrobe
posted 15th Feb
I still have some time left for baby shopping but I thought I'd get a head-start on what should be in a newborn's wardrobe, as I'm planning on going shopping soon.
So, I'm wondering what's in your baby's closet? As in how many and what kinds of clothes (color, style...) you've got.
What did you get for your baby shower?
How did you go about building a wardrobe and what did you watch for?
What are your must-haves? No-goes?
Anything cute/useful/sweet you'd recommend for a baby girl?
And what about a take-me-home outfit?
Wow, question overload, sorry! But I really am wondering about your inventory as I'm completely overwhelmed with all the cute onesies out there!

Heathen was in footie pjs most of the time.
And we brought her home in this....

Excuse my busted appearance. Just got home from 4 days in the hospital after a c-section.

I shop mostly at Nordstrom, gap, and target. Both my kids havevwayyyy to many cloths. I dislike anything that has animals, words like I love mommy or daddy on them, and I hate those outfits that come all together with a bib.

tons of onsies and footed pjs.
also lots of socks and mittens, and little stretch pants to go with onsies.
i had way too many full on outfits for going out which we didnt do much of and many of them didnt get worn. now that he's older he wears those type of clothes but not as a newborn.
but then again, i guess that's different for a girl...lol.

Honestly the first three months both my kids wore nothing but footie sleepers

I have 6 sleepers, 15 onesies, 4 gowns, maybe 12 pairs of socks, and 4 pairs of pants for my newborn. I only have a few things because I plan to shop after he/she's born because I don't know the sex and don't want baby in only yellow for months lol. My favorite thing with my oldest were the gowns for nighttime because it makes it easy to change diapers without waking up baby.

Mostly nothing but footie PJs and onesies. DD was preemie size, so she didn't fit many clothes (She was a term baby, though)

V came home in an outfit, it was a onesie and matching cotton pants and a little sweater it came with.
E will come home in something similar.
I have about 20 sleepers for E. 20 onesies. 10 pairs of pants, lots of socks and mittens, 10 pillow case style sleepers (they're my preference at night... No zippers or buttons to hassle with, just pull em up, change the diaper an pull them back down) and about 10 outfits for if we go out, which I doubt.
I have a lot of clothes though for newborn since I bought half her wardrobe then I had a lady give me a huge bag of clothes as well. I also have another lady giving me more.
I didn't have a baby shower with this one, I had to rebuy everything. As for color and styles, I have a lot of pinks, yellows, purples, and greens(mostly with flowers..lol) a lot of them have little designs on them like teddy bears, flowers, or some cute designs.
Somethinv useful would be swaddling blankets for sure. I love them. Helped tons. Cute...? Ummm lol I just bought clothes I thought were cute.

Nope no different! Lol
All those frilly dresses with matching everything just make them uncomfortable so my girl wore a lot of footsie pajamas and onside/stretch pants outfits. the really girlie stuff just made her super comfortable. None of the 0-6 months girlie outfits got used, around 6 months when she could sit up, she started liking that stuff. Those girlie outfits were especially annoying when she was a newborn because they would get caught on her cord stump.
Op, stock up on onesies and stretchy pants as well as socks and footsie pajamas. And make sure you have plain white onesies for under the footsie pajamas.

Lots of onesies and sleepers (size newborn to 0-3 months),
Sleep sacks and gowns were useful.
I got a lot of the little clothing sets,I think they were carter brand. They came with like 2 onesies and a long pair of pants that matched both of the onesies.
My daughter was born in july so I also got little sun dresses that come with the bloomers.
For her pictures I had a brown dress with pink and white polka dots with a pink onesie underneath. She ended up being too small to fit it and took her pics and came home in a white and pink sleeper.
For my baby shower I got: diapers, wipes, baby wash, baby lotion, diaper rash cream, stuff like that, blankets, clothes, thats really it. I had a small shower and bought most of her stuff myself.
Useful stuff I forgot to get until she was born: that nose sucker thing, infant tylenol, mylicon gas drops, thermometer, basically all the little medical things you need while having a newborn/infant.
