Walkers

posted 15th Feb
My mom bought my LO a walker about 3 weeks ago (she just turned 7 months on the 10th) I wasn't going to get her one until she was crawling but since my mom bought it I figured I might as well let her play in it. Well she is to the point to where she is running while she's in it. She loves it so much, it's so cute watching her. My only concern is that it will delay her crawling. For about 2 hours out the day ( not at a time ) we go in her room for tummy time. She gets in position and rocks back and forth then back to her belly. She does what I call the caterpillar. She gets in position then pushes her self up and goes on her belly and does this until she gets to where she wants to go, but then she gets frustrated and stares at her walker. She's hit all her milestones at a good pace, she smiled at 4 weeks, was sitting up at 4 months, rolled over both ways at 3 months, she can pull her self up and stand for a few minutes and has been doing that for about 2 months now. It just seems like ever since she got the walker that's all she wants, should I put it up for a while or let her be? I know most babies don't start crawling until around 9 or 10 months but I wanna get other moms inputs on this. Thanks

Keep in mind some babies skip crawling and go straight to walking. As long as she isn't living in the walker all day and you keep on doing tummy time I wouldn't worry. My son didn't crawl until 9 months so she still has time.

I don't let her stay in it for longer than 30 minutes at a time, I guess she's in in for about 2 1/2 hours out the day. I try to distract her from it as much as I can but she really enjoys it. She's one of those independent types that rather be doing her own thing than me holding her or playing with her. Kinda hurts my feelings. She only plays with me when she wants to lol. At night she is very affectionate with me but I think it's only cause she's tired lol
