posted 15th Feb
If your feet and ankles swelled up while preggnant how long after the baby was born did the sweeling go donw? I have already been tested for pre-e and it was negative just normal swelling.

It took about a week. They pumped me full of fluids while I was in labor. I was more swollen AFTER my daughter was born!

They pumped me with fluids constantly. I had swollen legs even. I gave birth and it went away right away but they also stopped giving me so much fluid after he was born.

was one foot/ankle are worse then the other? I have more swelling on the right side then I do on the left. Besides going back and fourth between warm and cold what else can i do to help bring down some of the swelling?

Elevate your legs above heart level and cut back on your salt intake. Oh, and drink more water!

it was pretty much the same for be on both I think. Have you lowered your sodium intake to almost nothing? Propped your feet up on a ton of pillows or even the arm rest of the couch. If you can get your feet above your heart level thats the best, but being pregnant its not so easy. is the swelling consent or just after you have been up. usually my feet are fine in the mornings but get worse throughout the day.

I am not a big salt person so I never have much salt, I have been elevating my legs some but I could do more of it, as for the water I have been drinking tons to prevent pre-term labor lol if I drink anymore I am going to feel it start swishing around in my stomach again that's always a weird feeling.

it sounds like your circulation is worse on that side. when you use the heat or cold do you put it on both ankles and feet at the same time? you may try putting like a towel in the drier for a bit and wrapping your right ankle, foot and part of your caf. maybe it will help get the blood flow moving.

I think it's worse on that side because I always put most of my weight on that side like when I am standing most of the pressure I place on my feet is on the right side, I will lean on cubards on my right side and it applys more weight on that side and so on.

lol that is the hard part I do it without even thinking because I have done it so long I just finally managed to sleep on my left side verses my right and that was a 5 month battle :-) at least everyone is saying it mostly stays up to a week after baby is born so not to bad.

lol. i cant sleep on just one side. I wake up at least 5 times going from one side to the other. but then again i don't sleep well in general. being induced you will have a lot more fluid, if you go in naturally then I wouldn't think it would be as much, so depending on how much your body needs will depend on how fast the swelling goes down.
