No poop in 24hrs.

My son is 3 days old and hasn't pooped in 24hrs. He's had plenty of wet diapers. He's not yellow, at all, so he's getting enough. I'm getting concerned, is there anything I am do to "promote" a poopy diaper? Is it normal?

Are you breastfeeding or bottle feeding?

nathan went a week without a poop...his doctor said they aren't concerned unless it's constipation

My son's doctor told me the breastfed babies can go as long as a week without pooping and still be fine.

Whenever my son was constipated/didn'tpoopwhen he was a newborn, I would wipe around his anus with a baby wipe.
Worked everytime.

Breastfed babies could be 7 to 10 days with out pooping.

I've heard of that too, to wipe the anus because it'll stimulate his BM. I've noticed that it was true when I would wipe his bottom that he'll poop more.

I wouldn't worry to much as long as he's not using a lot of strength/pushing hard because that's a sign of constipation. You'll know when he's having a hard time because you'll physically see it in him.

Yes it's normal. You can hold a warm, moist washcloth against his butthole to try and relax the sphincter muscle. Or you can float him in warm water. Also trying "bicycling" his legs.
