Possible PCOS.

posted 14th Feb
Hello ladies!

I went to the gynecologist today and explained to her my extremely irregular and heavy periods. And she mentioned that from everything I told her that it could be PCOS, I have never heard of it before, all she really said was that it could affect my ability to get pregnant and that I should not put off trying in the future as it could take a while. She drew blood and told me the results should be in sometime next week.

How else does PCOS affect you? And how long did it take you to conceive? I really want these results back already, my husband is so worried   I don't even know what to think.

I have PCOS as well. I was diagnosed three years ago. My husband and i have been trying to conceive well over a year now. In the past 4 months we have had three failed cycles with clomid and one failed cyle with femara. I am currently on femara this month as well and go in for an ultrasound to check follies and a 21 day progesterone soon. I also take 2000mg of metformin daily. PCOS has been one of the hardest obstacles of my life, but I refuse to let it define me. If you do have PCOS then read about it and educate yourself. A healthy diet can help manage PCOS as well. Good luck and baby dust!

I have PCOS and have had one successful pregnancy and one miscarriage. That is another thing is that PCOS can make you MC so when you get pregnant you are not out of the woods until you deliver that baby.
With PCOS you can also have weight problems, extra hair, acne, all that fun stuff.

PCOS doesn't just effect fertility. Having PCOS increases your risk of high blood pressure, stroke, heart attack, high cholesterol, diabetes and uterian cancer. That' being said just because you have PCOS doesn't means you'll have all those issues. With PCOS it's important to keep your weight under control.

I have PCOS. I've had several miscarriages due to low progesterone; women with PCOS usually have low progesterone. It took me 2.5 years to get pregnant with my daughter but DH has fertility issues as well. We got pregnant doing IUI and Clomid. We TTC'ed baby #2 for over 2.5 years. We had 3 failed IUI cycles last year; we were told that we'd have to do IVF to get pregnant. Back in January I ovulated on CD45 and I'm currently pregnant as a result of that.

Thank you for all of the info, very helpful. And congratulations on your pregnancies.
