Here is a video about DTI/ABA therapy that I came across during training for my new job. It's the most effective form of therapy for autism. I'm an autism therapist so feel free to ask any questions. Good luck to you!
It's behavior therapy. I work with ABA therapists and in my classroom we use some ABA techniques. In my class of kids I can tell which have ABA. With the right therapist great milestones can be reached.
We are doing the ABA therapy right now-30 hours a week. It is a therapy based on positive reinforcement. Having something a child wants to get them to comply, basically. My sons only motivator is the I-Pad, and sometimes letters. I parent this way naturally but when you have something concrete that they like to reward them for doing something is so much more effective. This therapy has already changed our lives and we have only been in it since September-I am very very pro ABA. Watch Youtube videos on ABA and do your own research, and ignore comments like "It will make them robots" because that is so very false.
