re: Microchipping a cat?

My vet said that the best thing to do is to declaw her.

I will call around. I thought that was normal.

They're going to do it using lasers. I read up on that. Lasers are supposed to have a quicker healing time and less traumatic.

The vet will supply me with enough pain killers to last her whole recovery, plus special litter that won't hurt her paws.

My cats are microchipped and we do not pay yearly. We can edit our address and information for each of their chips online. But it will depend on the brand, I think some you may have to pay. Obviously you have made up your mind on the declawing, I just think it sucks for the cat and you are not completely eliminating the chance that your son could get sick again.

I would get her micro-chipped. There is always the chance that she could get out, I'd like that peace of mind. Plus, it isn't that much. When we got our dog chipped it was $75 through animal control.

I think once you get it that it's there and that's it. I was watching pitbulls and parolees and they were saying they are just magnetic thingys that carry a code and then the code is in the system with your information. Maybe your vet just works with one who charges to hold the information? Idk, I just know that I don't have to pay anything a year or anything for my kitty.

I'm not for declawing but that does sound better.

Yeah the vet I go to is really high, but they do a good job and really care about the animals.

No.
We have animal shelters, but they only house animals. The shelters are so pressed for money that they don't do any medical care on the animals, except give vouchers for a free well check up, rabies vaccine, and a free spay/neuter. Other than that nothing.

Your vet doesn't sound like a really good vet who really cares more like a vet who is out to make the most money with as much misleading information as possible. Both my cats are microchipped and there is no "subscription" fee, once it is done it is done. Neither are declawed either as it is illegal here and thankfully people who do stuff like that here go to jail, regardless as others have said declawing your cat is extreme and won't even prevent the cat from transmitting it is actually treating the cat that will do that. What a load of old money making crock your vet is feeding you.
