Hail dents..

posted 14th Feb
Anyone have any tricks to pop them out at home? Or make them less dented? I don't want to pay $5,000 for a full body repair on my car!

If you have insurance you might only have to pay the deductible? I've also heard Dry Ice. Maybe try youtube for some instructional videos. I know that smurf is dangerous, you can not touch it! Good luck!

My hubby used a wooden board and a larger hammer- not a sledge hammer and pounded on the wood where he wanted the dent out from the inside.

under hood/under car- wood- hammer

Hmm. Interesting. And I bought the car with the dents and I only have liability. It's an oldish car but we're trying to get it looking nice again.

If i had more time I'd look for you, maybe tonight i will?? But if you don't mind it's not perfect maybe a rubber mallet from the underside and lightly tap until they pop??? Sucky situation!!!!

You don't have to look for me unless you're really bored :]
I'm looking on google and youtube and it's coming up with the most random crap! Like "how to replace starter", not even close youtube! Lol. I'm thinking maybe a salvage yard and just replace the hood completely if I can find the same one.

I looked at one salvage yard and I found one for 100 but they're closed right now so I can't go look!

I understand that you are wanting your car to look a little nicer but it isn't financially wise to put any money at all into the body of a car that is that old and damanged. I'm sure this car does an awesome job getting you from a to b but I would save your money for when you have mechanical problems and may be forced to buy a different car.

We are repairing the car right now mechanically. We don't plan on doing all this stuff at once. Maybe like 100 bucks a month or every couple months into little things or save up for big stuff. If money was ever a problem I would know where to put the money I do have. People fix up cars all the time. We really like the car and plan to keep it.
