Eating issues

posted 14th Feb
My daughter is now three, and we struggle to get her to eat anything. Including stuff she loves. We sit at the table together with no distractions or anything, I am just wondering how long should a toddler spend at the table eating?

I personally don't set a time limit. However, she understands that if she doesn't want to eat then she won't eat again until the next snack/meal.

I do that as well, but I don't want to spend so long in a day at the table when there is so many other things we need to do

When SO's daughter was 3 she could sit at the table for an hour if we'd let her, she was an extremely slow eater. If she didn't want to eat though we'd put it in the fridge until she was hungry and she knew she couldn't have any snacks until she finished her food.

Maybe I misunderstood. I thought you meant that she wanted to get down right away. You mean she wants to just sit at the table?

I have tried that one. Unfortunately, it would get tossed in the fridge.

I'm in nursing school and I'm on my Pediatrics rotation... a serving size for 3 year old should be approximately 3 tablespoons of food. Idk how long day should sit at the dinner table but certainly not longer than your family, and they also should not be forced to eat if they're not hungry. toddlers go through growth spurts sometimes they eat a lot more than 3 tablespoons and sometimes they eat a lot less it just depends...
