Town Houses

posted 14th Feb
DH and I are looking around to get a feel for what we like and i keep finding a lot of townhouses, if you were buying/living in a townhouse do you like it? What are the Pros and Cons, when we do buy it will either A be the home we'd like to be in the rest of our lives or a starter home so i don't want something i'm not going to end up loving.

It really depends on your tastes and the building. I don't like being that close to others, haha. I like having lots of space, so townhomes are not my thing. Also, I hate the idea of an HOA.

That's what we are moving to. It's the maintenance free living of an apartment without the obnoxious neighbors above.

I don't even like to RENT a townhouse. I would never BUY one. Just not for me. I refuse to share walls or space with anyone.
Some people don't have that luxury though, I know very city places have townhomes all over in good price ranges.

I hated living in a town home. We had houses connecting on both sides & you could hear the neighbors kids running up & down the stairs & screaming. I've also lived in a side by side duplex with the garages separating us & that wasn't bad. I have a house now & I love it

The ones i've seen have a semi decent backyard, although DH and I have both agreed we'd like a huge front/back yard. The shared walls are what i don't like, the insides are pretty and what we'd like but that's the part that makes us say no.

I like town homes, but I don't think I could ever buy one.

2 of my friends own town homes, both are apart of a HOA...which I don't like. I also do not like the lack of yard space, I want a decent sized front and back yard. I want space from my neighbors. And lastly, I'm going to sound like a lazy pos, but 3 levels are annoying to clean., lol.

Yeah the idea of having to deal with a HOA just irritates me, i doubt we'd ever buy one unless we had no other choice. I like my privacy, if we could move to the country we probably would.

Renting one is fine with me, buying one is something I'd have no desire to do.

Yeah. I mean, I'd do it if it was my only option. If I were living in a city where that's all I could afford. They are nice, but they just aren't for me.

Lol I have to agree with you on the last part, i do NOT want to have to clean 3 levels. Plus i don't like the HOA.

Yeah i could live in one renting but i doubt we'd ever willingly buy one, the thought of owning something and still having to listen to your neighbors doesn't appeal to me.
