cups and ounces

I don't have any measuring cups. Any idea how to convert a dry 1/2 cup measurement into ounces? I have a recipe that calls for a half cup of crumbled blue cheese. I have 4 ounces...  

8 oz per 1 cup. so 4oz would be your 1/2 cup.

4 oz is half a cup

I'm guessing you're talking weight to volume, not volume to volume like the PP's assumed. This post says 4 oz of bleu cheese makes about a cup grated. Crumbled I assume would be a little less.

Thanks ladies. I easn't too sure if it was the same with dry goods as it is with liquid. It wound up being the perfect amount
