catholic school

posted 14th Feb
who's kids go?

my husband and i both went to catholic schools. i like that they're much more lax than public or other privates. they celebrate all holidays. dressing up for halloween. christmas parties. classes take turns attending mass. uniforms are so easy. i love it. except there will be a lot of ironing jumpers and trousers.

we're in an urban area. public schools arent an option.

My five year old sister goes to a Catholic school and she loves it.. I don't know how the ones in your area are, but her's is really good with security too (no one can just walk in there without someone knowing).

Dean went for 1 month, he has adhd and odd, he got diagnosed in that month, and they didn't want nothing to do with it... sooo I guess catholic school wasn't right for him...
I made report to archdiocese, they still send the envelopes for us to donate because that was mandatory lol...

Registration is on the 25th. I joined the parish though so we'd have a better chance of getting in. I also had to get a letter of release from the parish whose boundaries we live in so that was ridiculous.

The tuition last year they said was $4500 for in parish for pre-k, so it'll probably be a tad more this year.

im sorry to hear that, that sucks!

catholic schools have a lot less resources for special needs children, than your public schools, or a special private school.

we only have a $250 mandatory fundraising amount. you can just roll it over into your tuition if you dont want to fundraise.

$250? Thats it? The school I went to is one of the ones we looked into for J. The tuiton alone is between $7-8 grand, then they want you to do $700 in envelopes!

Well in our contract was over 1500. In fundraising lol the tuition has to come out every month from our bank that was cheap tho, like 160. Every 2 weeks so 320. A month...
It was a mess just regestraition. Was a good 500. And that had to be paid before they tested him, we got jack smurf back haha...

its $250 for the christmas calanders :-) they do 4 fundraising activities per year, so it comes to just over $1000. The tuition is prety cheap for around here. $7,800. We're paying almost $20,000 a year for her preschool right now so its a lot less. My son will be nearly preschool age, so we'll have 2 in school soon. ugh!.

we also tithe 10% which is a big chunk of change.

My son goes to Catholic school and we love it! DH went to catholic school all his life and I went in elementry. The. whole school goes to Mass every Thuresday.
Since we are parishioner's at the church we pay $2,660 a year, for non parishioners it's $4,450. That is on the lower side. My friend who is on the board said that our principal tries to keep it at the very mininum, which is nice.

ho-ly-CRAP! That is a lot of money for preschool. And you're about to have another one in there too?! Oh my. I'm still trying to figure out how I'm gonna get $20,000 (well, more really) for MY OWN school, and that's college!
