I've always seen little baby and toddler girls with their hair up in pony tails and pig tails.
At what age do you start doing this? Doesn't it hurt them? I can't imagine a baby/toddler wants to sit there while you pull their hair into a pony tail.
I think if I started doing it as soon as her hair was long enough, she wouldn't hate when I do it now.
She leaves clips and bows in, I put those in her hair from day 1 But her hair gets sooo messy, I wish she would let me pull it up but she won't.
I have to distract her with my phone or tv for her to sit still but once her hair was long enough ...around 7-8months I did the little pebbles hair ...now she's 15 months and I do pigtails
I think once it's long enough, you're good to go. I don't have any kids yet, but I have a five year old sister and the second her hair was long enough we were doing all kinds of cute stuff with it. Granted.. she usually jacked it up after a few minutes hahah, but I don't think it hurts them.. once their hair is long enough they usually aren't as tender-headed as they were as newborns. My friend's one year old's hair just got long enough to tie up and she puts it up almost every day, she doesn't make a fuss about it either. I'm sure if it hurts they'll let you know.. (when does a little kid hold back from telling the truth, really? lol).
I started at about 1. She's 2 now and won't keep a ponytail on at all lol. I got the no ouch ponytails so no it didn't hurt her at all. My 10 month old doesn't have enough hair to put a ponytail on her yet.
I started doing my daughters hair around 10 months, when she finally had enough to do something with. Since I started so early, it just became part of the routine and she's always sat still.
My DD's hair was finally long enough to put into ponytails when she was 15 months old. I just give her something to play with or eat and sit her down in my lap while I do it. Sometimes it takes a little while cause she'll move around, but I can normally get it done pretty quick. She's never shown that pig tails hurt her or try to pull them out and we do her hair almost every day and she's 17 months old now.
Quoting tonys_mama(army wife):" I started at about 1. She's 2 now and won't keep a ponytail on at all lol. I got the no ouch ponytails ... [snip!] ... the no ouch ponytails so no it didn't hurt her at all. My 10 month old doesn't have enough hair to put a ponytail on her yet."
ya, it doesn't hurt DD (I don't think) either. And she stays still just fine. But after about 10 minutes she takes it out
My daughter was born with a lot of hair and it grew really fast. I started putting it up when she was really young, like a pony on top of her head at probably 4 months? Now she's 3 1/2 and it goes all the way down to her butt so I will usually put it in a french braid for at home and sleep, or if we go out I'll do pigtails or something.
I started doing my daughters hairs as soon as it was long enough they are now 9 & 11 years old and I still do it.
anyway talking about hair this is how my husband thinks he could help out the link below (Like hey i'll do the girls hair today) lol.
As soon as my girls had enough hair to put in a little bam bam pony on tip of their head, I did.
You get used to working aroun them moving their heads around. Haha.
My daughter sits still most of the time while I do her hair & she just turned 1. Sometimes she pulls it out though lol. I have always combed her hair though.
