Typically they won't deliver until baby falls to 5th percentile or lower. Baby Girl has been SGA/IUGR (frist by peri, second by OB) since 32 weeks but since she's maintained above the 5th percentile they're letting her stay until absolutely necessary with careful monitoring. There are a varoety of reasons for SGA and IUGR, anything from placental insufficiency to chromosomal abnormalities to genetics. The course of action can vary from one pregnancy to the next, however. I can only tell you that for me with placental insufficiency, vascular congestion and oligohydramnios my OB is taking a wait and see approach because she still maintains her growth curve and has awesome results at the NSTs.

Lol, well maybe you just have a peanut! (Easier on the vag ) either way I doubt they'll induce you. My oB was actually pretty excited for me to give birth, he said he was sick of seeing huge babies hah

Well I hope she isn't as big or just about the same size as V. Because I had 146 stitches from my vaginal delivery.... Soooooo lol
But I want her to be healthy. I want her to not need nicu time. I want her to come home immediately with me. And I'm afraid that if I am induced that something will be wrong.

Yeah it was awful. She was facing up, and Didnt tuck right, plus I only pushed 2 times and Didnt give myself time to stretch. I also tore up
In my butt somehow and had to have Botox injections to heal up there. My recovery was 11 weeks. It sucked.

I measured ahead the first months of pregnancy then I hit 35 weeks and they thought she quit growing but never did an ultra sound or anything. She was born 40+ weeks at 6lbs 14oz

My second daughter measured small .I was give weekly and bi weekly ultrasounds and non stress test. My Ob warned me if she wasn't big enough at birth she would have to stay until she got bigger. I delivered her at 39 weeks and 4 days. She was 18 1/2 inches and weighted 5 pounds 9 ounces . She was able to leave when I was released. I am only 5'6" and my hubby is only 5'4" so we knew we would have a small child . They want the baby to stay in the womb as long as possible to gain weight and mature. BTW my daughter is 13 months old and is still small. We have been told many times dynamite also comes in small packages and she can defiantly be called that.

DD was a small baby. I measured behind my whole pregnancy and I was scheduled for induction at 38 weeks, but gave birth the day before. She was 5lbs 6oz and perfectly healthy.

I have had two IUGR babies. With my first, I was 19 weeks and my daughter measured 14 weeks. I was sent to a specialist from there on out. They decided to take her by emergency c section a week before my original one was set bc they said my fluid was so terribly low that if left in one more week, she would have been still born for sure. At birth, she was 6 lbs but my last ultrasound she was 5 lbs 10 lbs. She was tiny and had to be flown to the nearest NICU bc her lungs werent developed, she had pneumonia and she had stopped breathing a couple times. She was in there for a month but now she is a healthy child. Her immune system is weaker than others and she struggles with asthma but I deem her healthy bc in her situation, we thought she wasn't going to survive at all. She has come a long way from where she was when she was born. My second daughter wasn't diagnosed with IUGR till 35 weeks bc up until then, I was measuring right on target. They went to schedule my c section and then discovered she was suddenly a lot smaller than they thought she was. In this case, I had a different dr and he wasn't sure that it was definitely IUGR for sure. So he took the chance and decided to keep her in one more week to allow her one last chance to gain a little more weight and assure her lungs would be stable. She was 6 lbs 1 oz at birth and although she had a little trouble breathing and fully acted like a preemie baby...she was perfectly healthy. Never stayed in the NICU, nothing. She too has a weaker immune system than most children but other than that and her size, you would never have guessed she was IUGR. If your baby is truly IUGR, I would trust the drs to call the shots. And don't be scared by my situation...I was only sharing to let you know what happened in two different situations. But not all IUGR babies have trouble. Good luck and I hope your baby comes out healthy! It's a scary situation to be in for sure so I know how you feel.

I completely trust my doctor. I just won't see her until Tuesday.
