I would just buy different shoes

its pen, i tried to wipe it off - but nothing worked   and magic erasers ? ahhh! i havent even thought about that! hopefully it works, because i really want to get his pictures taken. idk about anybody else, I just think that it would look pretty tacky to have pen on his shoes in professional pictures. Thats awkward, for me.

I'm not sure if I would ask her to replace them, but if I were her I'd feel bad and replace them.

The next time you buy him nice shoes I would keep them for special occasions. We buy DS DCs because they fit his wide feet the best, but even if we bought him Walmart shoes I'd be annoyed if I picked him up from a babysitter with pen all over them.

How old is he?

If I couldn't get the pen off, and he's not old enough that he could have said "Stop writing on my shoes" then I would probably express my extreme displeasure to the babysitter. I wouldn't ask for her to pay for them, but make it clear that it's not ok that it happened, that the shoes were expensive and that you trust her to make sure things like this aren't happening. If she's not watching him long enough that his shoes are covered in ink, you have to wonder what else he's getting into.

THIS! I wouldn't be so worried about the shoes as I would knowing if my kid was being watched properly or not.

On a side note, don't get a kid expensive shoes and then send him to daycare in them. ALWAYS put Walmart shoes on for "play days". Keep the nice shoes for church or whatever else.
