I don't think it's weird if she's doing it out of innocence and excitement. My mom is totally obsessed and in love with my son. She calls him her baby and sometimes I swear she thinks she have birth to him. But she also knows her place. LO does have a crib there but he has spent the night with me before. It's for naps and if need be. I know my mom does it out of love so I have no problem f she wants to shower him with love, as long as she keeps it within reason.

If you think MIL has an alterior motive or there is just something else going on besides normal grandmother love, yes - I would keep my eye on her and explain to her what everyone else said. Some grandmothers show love in different ways. My mom and MIl do it totally different but nonetheless, they love DS a lot.

Lol I swear she thinks this is her child and it is becoming an unhealthy obsession. I don't trust her and I have a feeling I'm going to have issues with personal space and her always being over at our house, especially because we only live a few streets over.

Thankful MIL isn't like that with LO. I have personal issues with her for other things. It just sucks that she's not you're mom where you can tell her nicely to back off. Have you talked to SO about it?

Yeah and he thinks there's no problem with it..... but he is a momma's boy to no end. He always sticks up for her even when she's in the wrong

Same boat here my friend! I would talk to her about it. Not in a mean way. Maybe if you're over her house one day bring up a conversation about how your mom is doing the same thing and how much it annoys you. Subtle hinting! Lol

My SIL is like that, she was asking to take him at 2 months. I was like uh no. Smurf my son is almost 19 months old and I still don't like letting him go places. MIL isn't like that, but SIL is so I see where you're coming from. MIL was all up in my personal space when he was first born though, coming over like every single day and like expecting me to entertain her and stuff...she lived only like 10 mins from us. I had to tell DH he needed to tell her to back down.
