Yeah, I wish I had educated myself more before just letting them C-section out DD when she turned to footling breech the day she was born. She was transverse before, but turned the night I went into labor. I never even had an option about it, they were just like, well you signed the papers for surgery already so we're going to do that. And now I know you can deliver a baby breech, vaginally.

LO 2 though, when we TTC and have that one, will be a VBAC unless I have no other option.

Awwe   I didn't have a choice cause of the complication I had. She'd die if I went into labor. It's was a stressful preg.

You know it was the best choice for your baby. You had to.

I know. Im hoping counseling will help. I hate crying all the time. I don't want to reserve my emotions and have them come out later. I know I need to face them but all I do is cry about it.

I think it would really help you to seek therapy. Try to remember that no one has a perfect birth, what matters is your LO is healthy.

It is not her "choice". C-sections aren't "elective" surgeries. They are only if medically necessary and it is irresponsible for a Dr to opt for that for no medical reason. It is major surgery that can result in serious complications.

So why'd the doctor ask her what she wanted to do..? Clearly it is her choice..

Because doctors make thousands of dollars more when women do a C-section than when they do a vaginal birth. Any OB-Gyn who's worth his or her diploma and actually gives a damn about the health and well being of the mother and baby, would only do a C-section when there's no other choice.

But in this situation.. the doctor asked her what she wanted to do, meaning she has a choice lol. And do you really think the doctor gets some sort of bonus in his check for performing a c-section?

Are you that dense?!?! They can bill insurance more for surgical procedures vs vaginal births.

Have you done any research before you asked that? The get tons more for surgery versus just walking in and catching a baby.

Check that link out. The C-section rates in the US are up. So are the maternal/fetal death rates in the US. It also shows that hospitals double their profits for a c-section, instead of a vaginal birth.

You get to charge almost double when you have to assemble the OR, more nurses, the anesthesiologist (sp?), the doctor, the many machines and tools, etc. I find it sad that people really don't think money plays a large part in things...

surgeries cost a whole lot more than vaginal birth. Nevermind the control over their schedule.

Seriously, you need to watch this.

If it doesn't come up, since I don't know if you need a hulu plus account to watch that, the movie is Pregnant in America. You should check that out. Also, if you have netflix, check out the Business of being Born. Pregnant in America is also on Netflix.
