"big" toddler

posted 14th Feb
if you toddler was very chubby (sorry don't know how to formulate this) to the point where almost everyone you know calls her fat.
would you do something about it? not talking about dieting more like healthier lifestyle,
or would you ignore everyone and let your child be?

How old, how big? And what is the diet?
ETA: by diet I mean, current food intake.

Is your child on a healty eating plan? And does her Pedi feel there is something wrong? If the answers go yes and then no then I wouldnt worry.

shes 4, and she eats pretty healthy, just big portion
she s still gets hungry in between meals so we let her have fruits. but one is never enough she would usually have three in a row and still be hungry to have dinner

pedi says she is big but don't want to do anything until she hits puberty.

only problem is that she obviously get teased by everyone, I dont want her to have self esteem issues growing up

she s a little over 23kg
eta: we get comments on her size on regular basis whether it s coming from adults or kids.

we always make sure to tell her she s perfect but she understands people treat her differently which break my heart

My 23 month old is nearly 15kg .... but he's extremely skinny because he's so tall people mistake him for a 4 year old. Which brings its own set of problems ... people think he's 'slow'

Well 4 is not a toddler lol, but anyways, my friend went through that with her dd. ppl comented all the time that she was a big baby and fat toddler etc....sure she had baby chub and that but was not fat at all.

She is a tall solid 7 yr old right now, she is skinny and very solid. Sure she weights 81lbs but not fat at all. Just build solid.

I'll show you hold on, her baby pics to Now. But yeah I wouldnt worry.

4 is not a toddler.. 50 lbs for a 4 year old seems pretty big. There is nothing wrong with adapting a family to a healthier lifestyle. I can speak from experience and say that it is going to be a lot easier for her to make healthy changes now then later one. Waiting until puberty makes no sense to me, by then it will be much more difficult to lose weight, especially if she keeps gaining.

we have a healthy lifestyle. we eat loads of veggies and fruits throughout the day. we have a strong routine and dont snack in between meals, but if ever one of the kids is hungry then we let them have fruits. I think realistically we ll have to cut down on our carb intake. the only thing is that she can eat an adult portion and still be wanting to eat an hour later

as for the doctor he says to let her be. he think she will outgrow it before her teenage years but if she doesnt then he will set a plan of action.
