gall bladder incision question...

I have a string hanging out of my incision... I thought it was something just on my incision cause im half asleep but nope. its a string stuck in my incision. is this normal at 1 month post op? should I call the doctor? there was also a tiny tiny tiny clot that came out.. im kinda freakin out right now.

Thatdoesn't sound right. I had a string hanging out of my incision from one surgery and it was the dissolving stitches. So it was fine within a couple days. But a month? Yeah that seems odd, especially with the blood clot. I'd go see your doc.

It may not be my gallbladder though... its just a guessing game right now though, lol. I dont want to limit my diet with my gallbladder out to be honest!

I had the string/stitches hanging out my gallbladder surgery incision also. Can't remember how long after surgery it was. My doctor said it was normal and just snipped it off.

A little off topic but when I had my surgery over 4 years ago, I was living in Eugene!

what kind of pain do you have? My pain would start in my back, go to my ribs and up into my chest and would last from between 4 hrs, to sometimes days. Have you had a hydra-scan yet? I had to keep telling my doctor that I was pretty sure my gall bladder is causing attacks and he finally listened and I was sent to a surgeon and we were waiting for insurance to be accepted and I ended up going in to the ER 2 days in a row and they finally put me in the hospital and removed the stone that was clogging a duct and then did gall bladder surgery the day after.

Im not sure about that lol! We're going to putters this weekend cause my bf has family from SD, FL, CA and TX coming.

I called the doctor and he said my body didn't like the stitching so that's why its been infected and literally popping like a pimple with puss and blood, and that on Tuesday (hopefully I can get in early cause my sons confirmation for neurofibromatosis is on Tuesday in Portland) he will take out the stitch

Putter's is fun! Compared to where I live now, Eugene is great! Even with all the dirty hippies! ;)

Sometimes I have acid reflux pains, in the middle of my stomach, like where your sternum is. But the pain I typically have is lower back to lower abdomen, to right above my hips in the front and back. Then some pain is right where the ovaries are. I have ovarian cysts, uterine polyps, adhesions on my liver, and an enlarged gallbladder. So my pain can be from ANYTHING! lol

The adhesions are some kind of growth, if I understood correctly. Uterine polyps are giant blood clots which came out of my vagina. They were filling up my uterus and falling out. Can you imagine going to the bathroom and a blood clot the size of your outstretched hand comes out? I couldnt wear tampons because a super size tampon would be soaked through in 30 minutes or less. I had to wear the ultra big mega pads and would line 2 of them from the top of my underwear, overlapping up my back to the top of the back of my underwear. And I would still leak in about 2 hours. The pads would be sopping wet. I have always had a lot of blood clots during my period, and I was having wacky periods for awhile but then finally this went on for weeks. I finally said "Im really, really sick" because I slept about18 hours of the day. Couldnt breathe. Couldnt be active. My doctor took one look at me and ordered an iron test stat. I was almost hospitalized from iron levels in my blood and how bad I was bleeding. The ONLY reason I wasnt is that being anemic can take weeks to months to recover from. I did have to have surgery though. Looking back I waited too long for my body to lose that much blood before seeking help, but I think I was just scared. The only reason I kicked my ass into gear was because (and here is more TMI) I sat down to pee and it felt almost as if I was pooping out my vagina... just the feeling of something very large coming out of my vagina. I looked into the toilet and saw 2 HUGE blood clots at the bottom of the toilet. Like, take your hand and spread your fingers out wide and outstretch your fingers. That's how big each clot was. I grabbed onto the wall and almost passed out. I had my Mom look at them and she started to flip out. Went to the doctor that day and had surgery 2 days later. I was very, very anemic. I was on an "anemic diet" for months, basically ALL my food had to be so incredibly high in iron. Your body can only take in so much iron before it rejects it... so for example even if you take high iron pills, your body doesnt absorb all of the milligrams. You have to take iron continuously in order to actually get a high level back in your blood. So if I took 500mg of iron, your body may only absorb 300. So you eat iron rich foods, drinks, and supplements to really get the most benefit. I was drinking a ton of the "Green Machine" smoothie drink from Odwalla, spinach salads, iron snacks, iron pills like 4 times a day. I was a sick kid.

From that I had to get my mirena, and yet I still have bleeding issues form cysts. Freaks me out because I NEVER want to develop polyps again, I was so smurfing sick and literally tired... I could wake up from a 12 hour sleep, walk upstairs to the kitchen, make something to eat and sit down to eat it and go to sleep on the couch for another 8 hours. Anemia REALLY messes with your body! I also ruined a lot of my clothes. I had to line my bed and couch with blankets. You know those diapers for old people? I had to wear those for the bleeding. I also was small enough to wear the pull up night pants for big kids. I couldnt control the bleeding, it really was that bad.
