My thoughts exactly. Her store may have been super strict or whatever, but most all stores aren't giving a smurf, most likely aren't even thinking. Just in auto pilot of doing their job.

I never ever do that. If I don't want something, I put it back. It's a waste of money, time, and could make the entire place STINK if it's not caught on time. Blech.

They keep the thermometers in the meat department.. at least they did where I worked. And the cart full of stuff is just reshop, they make people walk around the store looking for stuff out of place, toss it in the cart, and return it to where it belongs. Normally they do cold/frozen food separately so they can get it back before it gets warm and damaged. But yes, it's illegal to resell damaged foods. That can cause food poisoning which can cause a huge lawsuit for the company, so as long as they're smart they obey that law lol. We had to watch a whole list of food safety videos in training about food poisoning and what is/isn't okay to resell.

Yeah, I try to put stuff back where it belongs because I know how annoyed I'd be when I worked at Food Lion and I was CONSTANTLY finding things out of place. Meat especially because that's normally the most expensive item in the store and we're losing money by having to throw it out. One time we had this horrible fish smell down the dog/cat food aisle and couldn't figure out where the hell it was coming from, it was disgusting, it took us an entire day to take down every giant bag of dog/cat food to find that someone had taken a bag of frozen fish and shoved it between two giant bags of dog food.. it was disgusting. It's like some people think it's funny but really all you're doing is raising the prices on your own groceries by making them lose money.

Come to northern Ontario where CAS(cps) will spanking is banned. Lol they get one whiff of spanking.g here and you are in a court room before the end of the week. Lol

I don't spank but I'm not against it either. Lol

The first picture annoys me.

The second picture annoys me, too. Not because of the punishment, I would do the same, but because the parent put the picture online. Just punish your kid, FFS.

I also read an article about a kid who apparently cussed at his teacher, he got three days of suspension and all three of those days at the beginning and end of the school day, his parents made him stand outside of his school (so everyone could see as they were coming in/leaving) holding a sign saying, "I disrespected my teached and cursed in class.." or something along those lines. I think it's a good lesson to teach them, I'm sure they won't do it again. I just don't think it's necessary to post it all over the internet. Make them stand somewhere where the people they offended or hurt can see it, but that's it.

That's such bull crap (the system there, not you, lol) ... I understand that some parents may not agree with it, but tapping a child open-handed on the butt or hand is not and should not be a crime. I don't spank DD, but that's because I don't think a child should be spanked until age 2, and then only for truly serious offenses. It should be used with time out, and should not be the first method used to correct a situation.

See thing is, someone makes a call its automaticaly child abuse no matter what. We have the highest apprehension of kids where I live, cause our CAS system over steps and we have no one to stop them. Our own police have on juristriction over the CAS here at all. The apprehend kids with one phone call and they are in a foster home within hours. Its quite sad really.
Thing is, its taught in our schools that not even parents are allowed to touch their kids and if the do to tell someone. So they do. But they take it to far, like if kids are really young and dont say stuff properly, its an automatic phone call to CAS.
They get paid per child they remove from the home (bonus) so they do it whenever they feel its they can. Dont need warrents or any kind of judge or police involvement cause our CAS are their own buisness and work for themselves.

Jesus that's sad... I couldn't stand living in a place in constant fear that my child will say the wrong thing to a teacher, and get herself taken away from me...

Ya it is, if you get a phone call on you. If not you are fine to do as you please. I know good parents who lost their kids and fought for yrs to get them back, but yet I know crack heads who live in dirt and barely feed their kids get to keep their kids. Its messed up here in my city. We have a petition going on to get them to allow an ombusdsman (sp?) to be allowed to overturn the decision of the CAS and the family court system, but for the fith yr in a row our government wont allow. Some canadian provinces already allowed one, but here nope, they dont want to.

I work in Public Health, I know the risks and I also know the local incidence rate of foodborne illness.

First is ick, but people are stupid and lazy. I'm not surprised.

Second is... fine, I guess.... but I think it's stupid to do it publicly. Just be a parent, you don't need the world to support your parenting decisions or think it's funny.
