Quoting Let the rain fall:" Could be that or colic or acid reflux. Could be a lot of things. My LO did that when he was in pain. Now he does it because he has night terrors."

with colic would he just wake up out of no where and scream?

Absolutely. If he's having pain or discomfort that's waking him up that's exactly what he'd do.

I think it's defined by three or more hours of unexplained crying a day for a certain amount of days in a row. However, people tend to use colic as a catch all. He could have indigestion, he could be going through a cranky phase, he could be having a growth spurt, it could be anxiety over waking up alone. All of which are basically harmless, he'll just need a little extra love, and all of which would explain this. If he's not crying much during the day as well it's probably not colic. If he is crying more during the day though it wouldn't just disappear at night. Colicy babies do wake up crying as well.

Lucky lady! Haha Well, if it seems he's in pain at any point take him to a doctor, but otherwise this sounds like totally 100% normal behavior for a baby his age to me. Sometimes they go through fussy phases. Especially if there has been a change to his diet or sleep routine. If he calms down when you tend to him just keep doing so and it will pass. If it were something serious he wouldn't be easy to calm like that.

I totally understand. They're seriously weird creatures at that age, they can totally change attitudes overnight. It all passes with time. Worrying is what being a first time mom is for! Good luck, Hun

My son started having them at 6 years old. The first time he had one it scared the crap out of me. He screamed and cried say someone was going to kill him mommy. when I asked him who was he looked at me with the meanest face and started screaming you are. You are going to kill my mommy and started running away from me. You could tell he was terrified. I was crying my DH was trying to get him to wake up after 45 mins he woke up like nothing happened and asked me why was I crying. We took him to the Dr. He said for us not to wake him and just make sure he was safe because if you wake him up it can start back up around 2 hrs after they fall back to sleep. He is 10 now and still has them I freak every time they are so scary and real to them.
