Night Terrors

Anyone's infant (he's 10 months) ever have night terrors with teething? He's got a tooth coming in on top, and I noticed it 3-4 days ago and the last 3 night he's woken up, just screaming in sheer terror it seems. Not a normal, "Hold me mommy" cry. Like "SOMEONE'S TRYING TO KILL ME SAVE ME MOMMY!!!" scream. And NOTHING helps. Normally I can give him his cup and turn his music on and he's good when he wakes up fussing, but this, this is bad. I hold him and cuddle him and he just doesn't stop screaming. All I can do is rock him and hold him until he's screamed it out. If I hum or try to sing to him he screams harder. I have to just quietly hold him, rub his back and rock. I feel HORRIBLE because I can't help, and he can't tell me what's wrong. I know some kids just get them, but man this young?   And nothing has changed but the tooth coming in. He's always done dinner, bath, bed.

my LO has night terrors. hes 21 months and ive never notice a pattern as to when they hit. But it is exactly as you describe. But sense hes older he talks some. Usually he just cries "mommy!" I can tell hes not all the way awake cuz of the way his eyes look and bcuz he never looks at me he just thrashes around

Yup exactly!! I'm not a very emotional person, I'm probably one of the only moms that doesn't cry when her kid gets a shot, doesn't upset me, I can deal with a tantrum and ignore it like no other... But man this just breaks my heart. I just want to hold him tighter and tighter

  poor babies! It's so horrible! It's only ever happened twice until the last few nights. I really hope for his sake it ends soon.

yes.. my son started them around 9/10 months and had night terrors on and off til he was 4

  did you ever discover anything in particular that triggered it for him?

i know its hard. and even harder knowing you cant do anything but let it ride out. my LOs been having them since he was probably about 7 or 8 months. Scares me to death cuz he wakes up screaming bloody murder. i just keep talking to him saying every things ok mommy is here wake up bub doesnt seem to help him but it makes me feel less helpless. Ive read you shouldnt try to forcefully wake them up when theyre having them

nope...i used to think it was due to just being over tired/exhausted but i just never knew for sure

I'm fortunate he doesn't wake to straight scream, it builds up so I don't get scared to death at least.

He's actually finally been napping better lately so I don't know if that'd be it either. Last two nights it was around 12-2 he woke up. Tonight he woke up only about an hour after he went to bed

i just hated him not having them for awhile, then them randomly starting back up. *knock on wood* he hasnt had any in almost a year so i hope its the end of that

Me too   My nephew had them too. I've never experienced it until recently.
