My LO didn't start talking at all until 18 months when she said a handful of words. She was assessed for delays as a result and by 2 she was advanced in her language.

Peyton is almost 19 months and says mama, dada, kitty, doggie, and huh. That's it. His doctor is a bit concerned.

Did they think she had a delay or was just being stubborn? LO's doctor is concerned but I think he is just being stubborn and is going to talk on his own.

I guess I should probably keep track, but it seems like she says a lot...mostly 2 word phrases now. "Ball bounce" "bubbles pop" "all done" "I sit" "high chair"..etc. and all the basics...mama, dada, cat, dog, Ryan (bubbies name), chip, cup...etc.

I am shocked at the amount DS says too! He is saying at least 50 words. I need to sit down again a write them out. Last time I did at 15 months, it was already 35 words, and he says more everyday!

The people who did the assessment from the local school district said that at the time she was very behind in her speech and suspected that there may be something wrong but she didn't qualify for early intervention services yet. Instead they decided to recheck at age 2 and see how she'd progressed at which point she was talking great. She never needed speech therapy just a little extra time

They referred us to help me grow he will be 19 months by the time they come do their assessment to see if he needs the extra help or not. Makes me nervous!

Also DS is pretty much at the point where i can tell him "say ____" and he will at least try to say it, usually he does pretty good at saying whatever the word is.

at 18 months, about 5-6 words. At 23 months now, it's about 30ish? But never uses them with regularity. She says about 8 words with regularity.

That's about where my son is. Was her dr ever concerned about her speech at all?
