Quoting Peyton'sMommy♥:" Peyton is almost 19 months and says mama, dada, kitty, doggie, and huh. That's it. His doctor is a bit concerned."
My son's doctor said he would like Anthony to have 10 words by 18 months besides mama & dada so I mean he is a little under but it's better then him not saying anything at all. My friend's child is 19 months and barely babbles, they are worrying he might be autistic. But your child is speaking so I don't think it should be a big issue. Boys develop language slowler than girls, it's proven.
Knowing words like doggie & kitty show that he understands basic concepts and that's the main principle behind wanting them to have a decent list of vocabulary. Anthony just turned 18 months and says about 15 words besides mama and dada. (doggie, kitty, hot, piggie, bye, hello, cow, no, cold, book, mickey, blankie, baba, cup, drink)
