first words!

posted 13th Feb
is it too soon for my DD to start saying words? she will be 10months on the 19th.
she says "gato" and "dad"
we obviously have a cat and she knows what it is and her dad well he says dad to her all the time, now she starts trying to say "babe" for when i call my DH.
i dont think im crazy cause you can clearly hear it.

DD hasnt said mama yet. it makes me sad :'(
she used to when she wanted to get out of her crib but she got over it and now everything is gato or dad. she is learning to say tata for her grandpa and nani for her grandma.

My dd was an early talker. Both mama and dada popped up at 6-7 months and we got 'kitty' at 9 months. If your baby is anything like mine, good luck to ya! She NEVER stops talking. By 12 months we passed 50 words, and by 18 months I had long since lost count. Didnt take a step for 14 months, too busy talking. She turned 3 two weeks ago, and even just tonight spent a good 20 minutes having a one sided conversation with her brother (who's still a fetus!) "did you have a good day with mommy today baby? Sure you did! I did too. I was thinking if you come tomorrow we could color in my room. Would you like that? Sure you would!" and on, and on, and on. There's nothing quite like a cranky two year old telling you with a straight face "I have many frustrations mommy".

Enjoy it. Mine drives me insane, but honestly early talkers are insanely entertaining. There's something really amusing about being able to hear what goes on inside a baby's head before you should be able to. Hours of fun! Haha
