cosleeping question

posted 13th Feb
if you cosleep, does your lo depend on you to fall asleep?? LO fights sleep so bad, he refuses to sleep anywhere but my bed and he needs me to be either patting his back or jiggling him around to fall asleep. i cant leave the bed without him waking up. Last night he woke up and fought sleep for 5 hours!!! Nothing seems to be working. I love cosleeping but i cant finda away to get him to sleep calmly and without him depending on me so much. it gets so bad that he is starting to throw minnie baby tantrums...

P.s he is five months old.

We co sleep and have for the last 20 months. My DD has to nurse to sleep or go for a ride in the car. However, when she was about 4/5 months old I had to stay in bed with her because she'd wake up if I left. Do you have a fan in your room or a white noise machine. I found that it has helped tremendously. She will now sleep up to 4 hours without me by her side.

Get a white noise machine thing. And put a shirt that you've recently worn rolled up next to your LO. we cosleep well, bedshare actually..my almost 4yo sleeps with me too as well as my 23month old...but they sleep fine on their own too lol.

My LO is almost 4 months old, he sometimes depends on me to fall asleep, but other times he just crashes on his own. I know at night though he definitely will not go to sleep without my boob. But after he's asleep he's usually out for a while, if he wakes up I nurse him again and put him on his stomach in his crib and he's out for hours. Then he'll sleep in the car almost every trip no problems really and even sleep after we get home for an hour or so. All I know though is that it's not going to last forever. It's a slow process teaching them to sleep on their own.

I don't think him depending on you to put him to sleep has anything to do with you guys cosleeping. He's a typical 5 month old...my trick was never getting in bed with my son before I was going to sleep. I would rock and cuddle him to sleep sitting on the couch or wherever and then put him in the bed.
