It's her choice. I get why she is upset however IMO I would not change. I would simply ask to see the one new dr until her usual one returns.

My ob I will se every time but come delivery I get whoever is scheduled for that weekend (him and four other Obs rotate). Assuming its on the weekend

I think you are missing her point. The doctor is gone and could be for the rest of her pregnancy. Being a first time mom it probably freaked her out, she had this plan in her head and its being changed. Its that she just got hit the very real reality that pregnancy, labor, and delivery dont go as planned. Many first time moms just expect their regular OB to be the one who delivers. I know I never realized how many women arent delivered by their regular doctors.

I seriously like you. Thank you for validating my feelings instead of making me feel like an idiot. I am a first time mom. And I don't have a lot of experience with pregnancy. Learning as I go.

I'm not meaning to make you feel like an idiot. I hope your ob don't have to cancel the rest of your appointments. I'll butt out, sorry for trying to be a little helpful... I do get where you're comin from. I'm that way with my second baby. (But its a diff reason with me...) hope everything goes well for yoy. Good luck.

The doctor spends very little time with you during delivery. With my first I didnt see a doctor until she was crowning then it was catch baby stitch up me and bye. I never said more than like 5 words to him. I spent way more time with my nurses they did all my checks and were with me for the first 2 hours of pushing. With my second I delivered at a teaching hospital so I had a resident do all my checks then the attending would double check. The doctor was much more hands one which I loved, but I still had never met that doctor until I was admitted. Things happen the best you can do is go with the flow. It might be better to rotate through the doctors so if they do a rotating schedule for delivery you will of had a better chance of meeting the doctor who delivers.

That's how my delivery was. She wouldn't even come up to the hospital til I was 10 cm dilated.

If it seriously makes you uncomfortable, you can try looking for a new DR but it's unlikely that you'll find one that will take you this late in the game. Honestly though, there are 3 OBs at the office I go to and you never know which one will be on call when you go into labor. You get who you get. I've been there with all 3 of my pregnancies and I thought it would bother me with my first, but it wasn't bad at all.

Good luck!

Oh my doctor was there but in back to back c-sections. Then she got sick and the back up came in. I was actually quite pissed that the doctor never so much as came in to say hi. I was in labor for 14 hours they had to of had at least 5 min to check on me.

I was not happy with my first delivery at all. My second was much smoother possibly because it was so short as well. I very happy with being in a teaching hospital I felt I got better care. My daughter was one of the first 10 the doctor had delivered it was pretty awesome because it was special for her too. The attending was right there in case something went wrong but yea my second delivery was amazing.

I'm a first time mom and I would feel the same way in your position, but because I am not near my due date yet looking at the situation from the outside I think I can think a little clearly as to what I would possibly do.

Your OB knows your better than the others would, I would personally wait a few appointments. Any concerns you have may not make as much sense to a new OB as your original OB.
