I always get SO something and then he feels awkward and gives me something later. This year he's planning something and told me not to get him anything but I'd feel awkward if I didn't.
So...awkward either way.

I think if known issues are in the way, like financially one person cant afford its its acceptable. But if one person just didnt want or care to do something for the other its pretty awkward.

gifts are about giving. not receiving. there's no guarantee / expectation in our household of valentines anything, b/c we celebrate love by having a good relationship and such, hallmark can't touch this.

I always make his gifts, something from the kids, something from us.
But i just like it for another reason to do a project  
Jason gives gifts but i mean, life in general between us gets pretty awkward at times, ha.

Dude cares more about 'gifts' than i do. We did a painting for him this year and then 2 blown up photos of the kids v-day pictures i took. Soooo kinda like gifts for the house

I think Valentines Day is a joke anyways. I think its AWKWARD holiday lol

Not awkward at all for us. We NEVER expect gifts from one another, but greatly appreciate when we recieve one. Some years I'll gift him and some years I don't, same goes for him. We do special things and give special things to each other when the thought comes to mind, not when the calendar says Feb.14.

This Feb 14 I am cooking us a nice juicy steak dinner and plan to cuddle on the couch and do some sex later, I like to gift him when I want too not just cause I am "suppose" too on V-day (which, sorry, no offense is a silly day,imo) and he is the same. It could be a reg ole Tuesday and he'll surprise me with flowers or whatever, and that too me is more sweet and surprising than the thinking that a lot of people have "Oh its V-day, gotta buy him/her something." Not my thing.

I love doing the holiday smurf on v-dday with my kids, FUN!   Love seeing their smiles and happiness.

I got a stuffed frog holding a box of chocolates.. SO is getting nothing because I don't have any money lol. not awkward at all, I wasn't expecting anything anyways.
