Dating during separation question..

BD and I were married for 3 years and two months before separating for good on December 28th. Thanks to a friend of mine I started talking to and am now dating another guy three weeks after BD and I separated. I know that's a little soon and it was completely unexpected but none the less it happened.

But my question is how long do I have to hide the relationship from BD? I mean I am by no means ashamed of it, and it's not like this new guy is even the reason we split up. Because we never even started talking to each other until after BD and I split.

I just don't want BD to be able to use anything against me during the divorce.

You don't have to hide it at all, I don't think.

My dad started dating my (now) step-mom the week he moved out of our house and it didn't effect the divorce at all.

Id keep it under wraps til its done with.

Are you separated or broken up? You really don't need to hide anything. As long as the person you're seeing isn't a criminal there is nothing he can use against you in court.

I don't think there's any reason at all to hide it.

Separated. Filing for divorce as soon as possible on December 29th of this year.

The only thing I would be cautious about is him saying you were having an affair with the guy prior. ( Not that it would change much regardless). But it would keep unneeded drama at bay.

My ex husbands step dad, pulled that on my MIL. She started dating within weeks of them separating and he went after her for adultery. ( Which is a crime in NYS). He lost, because he had no proof that this was going on within the marriage.

See I have all the conversations from when SO and I first started talking and they are all after BD and I separated. I just don't want it to bite me in the ass later.
