In general, baby showers are thrown for you by a friend or family member. But some people choose to throw their own, in which case you'd pay for it unless someone offered to chip in.

Carseat, clothing, bottles (if you plan on formula feeding) and somewhere for the baby to sleep. Diapers.

Those are the bare essentials.

Someone else throws you a shower, and they would probably pay for it too. Most people consider it tacky to throw your own.

This... But I have noticed more and more ladies throwing their own. Still think its tacky.

Sometimes someone in your family throws your shower. My aunts/grandma/mom paid for mine, and also bought the baby a swing.

On my registry, I put pretty much everything I wanted, my other gramma bought me the travel system and I got a lot of clothes, diaper genie, bath tub... I don't remember what else.

I think, unless someone volunteers to do so, most of the stuff is your responsibility, seeing as how expensive it all is.

Every person/family is different. Traditionally speaking (this would be coming from my mother "Ms. Manners".) A shower is held by the maid of honor and the bridesmaids etc. Traditionally speaking the Mother to be and the family of the mother to be do not throw the shower...blah blah blah

Now a days people have all kinds of showers some throw their own, some are thown by the family, friends and so on. I would say, dont buy anything until after your shower. Make a registry of the things that you need and when your shower invites go out make sure that the place where you registered is listed on the invitaiton. Do you have any family or friends that seem interested in hosting your shower?

I have never heard of that. And nowadays it seems marriage and babies don't go hand in hand.

Yeah...my mother who was born in the 40's is the self proclaimed leading authority on manners and parties etc. Back in her day, the family members did not throw the shower becuase then it looked as if they were "begging for gifts"...

My most favorite baby thing is these little fleece sleepers that carters makes. They zip up and are rounded at the bottom. They help with late night changes when you're half asleep. Also-personally I was anti-snap sleepers. who the hell wants to snap like 15 snaps at 3 am??? I also couldnt live with out my papsisan chair for my baby...I had the fisher price snuggle bunny and it played music and vibrated and bounced a little. It was great during the day when the babe was on and off sleeping.

Don't depend on it. You should buy most, if not all big things on your own.

Yeah, you're going to get a lot of sleepers, clothes, blankets, lotion and diapering material and so on.
