Keags new car seat & question.

Bought little man his car seat on saturday. It's a Britax B-Safe. I love the Britax brand. So I'm really excited he'll be in a good, safe seat.
I'm super nervous to put the base in the car since DH and I were in a car accident last week. I only have 3 weeks left, so I should just incase anything does happen baby wise before my induction.
When did you put your car seat (base) in the car?
With DD's I didn't until I was leaving the hospital with her because I had her unexpectedly. I'm NEVER waiting that long again. It hurt so bad to put all my weight in that sucker to make sure it was nice and tight (I just had surgery a couple days before).

The night I went into labor I had DH take it into the car (didn't strap it up just set it in the back seat) then when we were discharged the lactation consultant walked out with us and she installed it herself.

When I went into labor, DH installed it in the car.
I would never put it in any earlier than that, in case there was an accident.

Uhhh about 30 weeks. Then the seat itself was in the trunk. Until we had him.

I was 36 or 37 weeks. Had my csection at 39 weeks.

I'm just going to install the base. It's under warranty if we get into an accident and if we didn't have the warranty (the extra plan we purchased) a base is cheaper to replace then the whole thing.

Good choice! That's the seat we have! Sadly DD is outgrowing it so we are upgrading to a convertible britax!
We put her seat on at 37 weeks, I went into preterm labor at 32 weeks and didn't have her until the day I turned 39 weeks.

The nurse who walked me out with DD wouldn't install it for me. She watched to make sure it was in right. I was literally in tears putting it in the car from being in a ton of pain. She said due to liability issues or something she couldn't install it for me.

Oh that's weird. I guess DH actually did it but she was right there telling him what to do and then checked it and tightened it and everything.

Don't you just love the Britax brand?! I do!
I've gone into PTL 3 time thus far. I'm thinking maybe when DH comes home from work I'll put it in the car. I'll be 36 weeks Friday. I'm having DS the week of March 4 (still need to schedule the induction date itself).

That is very true!
I always felt like I would jinx myself in a way. Drive with no accidents, then the second I installed the car seat/base, BAM. Accident.

RCS scheduled for Monday and I'm installing it either today or tomorrow. The base has been sitting (uninstalled) in the back for about a week now just in case then I could have my husband grab the seat if need be but I think I'll make it to Monday now

I am the same way. I'm scared I'm going to jinx myself if I install it. Especially since DH drives around all day for work. So the chances of an accident are there. But then again, I've been having this huge gut feeling this baby is going to make his arrival sometime soon. Maybe I'll just install it and if anything happens, then I guess it happens.
I'm still waiting to replace DD's seat from the accident we were in last week. Insurance won't cover a new seat. So I'm waiting until Friday to get a new one for her.

We didn't install the carseat til DH ran home to shower/change after I had the baby! lol We tested it out as soon as we got it, to make sure it fit...but I don't see a point to keeping it in your car weeks/days before you deliver?!
