oh so very broke

posted 13th Feb
Ugh I am so tired of being broke all the time. I relocated a few months ago in hopes of going to school. It didn't work out so I've been job searching like crazy for a few months and am still out of work. We receive TANF and food stamps (judge me all you want but I'm doing my best) but it's not enough. Our tanf is enough for rent and we have enough food to get by. I babysit when I can for a few extra dollars and sell stuff on yard sale sites. I started my period 2 days ago only to look under the sink and see that I am out of pads. I've been using wash clothes to keep myself clean. This is ridiculous, something has to change for us soon

If you go to a pantry they usually have feminine hygiene products to give out.

I hope things work out with finding work for you. It's horrible everywhere, tbh.

Me too. I'm not used to being unemployed at all. I have been a preschool for the past 5 years and have a CDL. I really thought that would be enough when it came to finding a job.

I feel ya! Bd let the kids waste all my pads last time he watched them. He thinks I'm made of money because I have a job and he doesn't.

We might take that walk today. Car is on empty and I don't wanna chance running out of gas and having my car towed or something. I think the closest pantry is about 10 blocks away. I'm going to call first so we don't walk all that way for nothing.

Can you get a job part-time somewhere as a waitress, hell even McDonalds, just to bring in some extra cash?

Idk about there but here if you work part time you don't get cash assistance anymore and I wasn't even making enough to survive on to even cover 1/3 of my bills, but I found a different job.

Here you can't get cash assistance if you make over 399 dollars a month for a family of 3 well at 12 hrs a week I made 425...which rent is 500 so that doesn't even cover that. It isn't made for assistance in my eyes at all. Thank god I found this new job!

I dont care about your cash assistance or what you have going on.

I was asking the OP. She said it covered her rent. Even for a smurf hole apartment you'll paying $1500 a month here, at the very least. That just seems like an awful lot to be handing out.

This isnt directed at anyone particular, but how can people not find jobs? I was bored one day and sent my resume around and had 3 job offers by the end of the week making very good money. I turned everything down to continue to be a stay at home mom, but really its not diffiuclt to find a job...
